Default 991 RS - MSRP or Markup

Seems like a few dealers I spoke to looking 10k + over MSRP and won't even know for sure if you will get a car. Other dealers say they never charge over sticker but say their cars are pre-sold.

So, what is the game plan to get one for MSRP ? Any leads ?

I ordered mine 2 months ago. I'm #4 on the list (hopefully I get it), and I have it in writing that I will get the car for MSRP.

Travel back in time 2 years and place a deposit. I did and I'm still not guaranteed a car.

I placed a deposit 2 years ago and am #2 at my dealership. Fingers crossed that they get 2!

Did mine 2 years ago, number 1 on list with my regular dealer. Number 2 with another dealer that I spoke to about 13 months ago. Both at MSRP.

If you want it at msrp here locally, probably.

Doesn't every 918 owner get first dibs on the RS?

At least that's what the owner of my local dealer told me….

Look on the bright side.

In the event you can get a hold of a 991 GT3 RS, go ahead and pick this up. 6MT, too, for those who care about trivialities like that.

For those who think they're going to get the RS at MSRP without it in writing, I hope you have an EXTREMELY good relationship with your GM or bought a 918. Most people here either weren't part of the 997.1 GT3RS fiasco or they forgot about it and how bad it was. Dealers were selling cars 20-50k+ over msrp! People had allocations only to be told "and here's your car...at 25K over sticker. Do you want the keys, because if not, I've got a waitlist of people who do". Those were some very ugly days for dealers. The 997.1 RS was the first 911 RS variant of any kind that was officially imported to the US which really started a feeding frenzy at the dealerships (RSA's don't really count as they were quite a bit different than the true 964RS's that the rest of the world got). A lot of longtime dealer/customer relationships were strained if not completely ruined over that car.

Cheer up ; my dealer says half of all deposits historically fail to result in a sale when the car is offered . Also doesn't see 918 buyer and RS buyer being the same guy .
