500 for the US market alone is a lot of cars!

It will take some leg work, luck, and persistence, but I would start cold calling around the country. People were able to get the RS4.0 at msrp with some work before production stopped, it will be the same with the new RS.

Dealers around here like sonnen are straight up, but you need to plan ahead. First to put down a deposit is first in line, but people have been on the 991RS list since the 991_3 was announced.

Very true. I was originally number #7, but was bumped up to #3. Lots of people will flake.

Would rather pass on a car than pay over MSRP imo.

Don't we all wish everyone would think like this. If everyone was like this, then the stupid games would end...

+1

FWIW, I won't pay over MSRP either unless it still falls well below the cost/benefit of my alternatives. There are many great high performance presently.

I also would like to wait and see the specs/reviews. If it is only slightly quicker than the GT3 and way too stiff for the roads; I have no interest. Plus, the 918 cars do not count towards the allocations. They did not for the GT3 from my understanding. Plus, there will be initial allocations but I have learned if demand looks good there will be more afterwards so careful overpaying on the initial news. Now - there will be plenty of 918 guys that will not want their cars and those cars they will work with their current Dealers to sell above MSRP. So both can make some money. They will just flip them back. Some were already doing this on the 991 GT3 until the engine fire which then killed that BS
