Another bad thermostat?

It happened to my .2RS as well the other day. The car took longer to warm up than usual and then the lights came on. Dealer replaced the thermostat and now it's fine again. Happened to my .1 Gt3 as well.

I only have about 2500 miles on my .2RS, but no issues so far. Sorry to hear you are having issues. Hopefully it’s just a bad coincidence.

How many miles did u have when that happened? And how long did the dealer keep the car to replace the thermostat?

Ic.... Any recurrences or a one off issue?
One offs dont bother me that much.. .. but if an issue keeps happening over and over and Porsche does nothing to permanently address it.... then i get real concerned. Specially if on each occurrence Porsche ends up keeping the car for days and days (week+)... .. its not in any shape or form a fair proposal for the customer who paid Porsche a ton of money based on their reputation for quality and dependability.

I have 6400 miles on my .2 GT3 (2018) and 6900 miles on my RS (2019). Its a PITA, but I personally think you are waisting your time trying to figure things out. These thermostats are analog devices hooked up to digital systems. All of mine that failed erd on the side of over cooling, so protecting the engine. They are covered under warranty.

Well David .. to each their own of course.
It seems like the same issue has been lingering around for at least 5 years .. I personally find this unacceptable ( if the issue is actually legit and not bad luck)
I like information... it comes handy when facts are debated and disputed..........
Plus warranty does not come into play when im without my car for a week at a time on every recurrence.
On top , what happens after warranty is done at 50k miles? I start paying for repairs for what is actually a design flaw or defect?
I just think that with Porsche’s claim for dependability and quality its not acceptable for them to let this issue linger on and on..... there should be a sold fix.
But if no one cares... nor will Porsche it seems like.
I am still hoping that it is just a coincidence.. and not a recurring issue ( fingers crossed )
Porsches are amazing driving cars with amazing performance .... but outside of that realm there are a lot of little issues here and there that keep being neglected by Porsche! Fortunately they are not debilitating issues and are just annoyances. In my book still unacceptable but livable.
(And seems all these little issues are inter-model too. I have had them with Macan, Cayman GTS and now the the RS..... but thats for another topic)
Having said that.... ‘Frequently Recurring’ issues that keep my car at service for a week at a time are not issues i am willing to accept as mere annoyances and compromise on.
Thats just my approach and what i find to be just.
But again.. to each their own .
Thanks for your input..

^ I would just note it a bad luck and move on. Many other things to worry about in life than a bad thermostat.
If it happens a third time!!!!- well- then your luck is really crappy and I would not go to Vegas with you

I have 3250 miles on my new 3RS and a lot of those miles are on the track here in Phoenix which isn't "cold weather". No problems yet. First car I have seen that can run the whole session at over 100 degrees and never see an oil temp above 235. My Cayman does 5 laps and you have to stop because oil is already over 250.

Its not a thermostat or two im worried about .. it is a 270k car constantly ending up at service for the same issue over and over again ..... because Porsche wont offer a solid fix for it.
But as i mentioned before .. i hope this not a prevalent issue on 991.2 and that im just having bad luck. ...
Maybe after all we may end-up in Vegas together,.. ...lol
