Update:
Car is done... And back where it belongs
According to my service advisor Porsche Germany got involved with requests for certain diagnostics, verification of part versions .. and suggestions for inspection of other potentially related parts and their replacement .
Lets see how it goes..
Hope great !

Found this thread after getting the “engine control fault” error code with CEL.
Turns out my thermostat on my 2014 .1 gt3 has died. But it just had a brand new engine put in so I dunno.
So I picked up the car today and like 3 hours later the error comes back. The SA told me this wasn’t gonna happen again after I picked up my car.
shouldnt there be a more solid fix by now?

WT.. make sure they replace it with the new version.
In my case, the first time they replaced it with the older version and a few hundred miles later it went bad.
On the 2nd attempt they made sure they replaced it with the new version.... and so far so good ...🤞🏼

SA said it was a newer one but it wasn’t even 50 miles before it lit up again lol

Thermostat failed in our .1RS at ~3k miles...dealers fixed under warranty

Alright another update:
So when I brought the car in again last week after the fault reappeared my SA said the tech might be one of the servos or whatever that’s part of the heating circuit. After replacing and test driving the car twice the fault came back.
Now they’re going to consult a bunch of engineers.
Lol what a car

13500 miles and the last, supposedly, updated/ new and improved thermostat failed .....( AGAIN!)
Car has been in the shop for 12 days now..... Porsche does not give me any definitive answers... its just wait and see.... they are even telling me that oil pressure issues may cause a thermostat failiure.(🤦🏼♂️😳🤦🏼♂️)... my car has no oil pressure issues... none ... imo they are buying time with bogus excuses.
4 thermostats in one year and weeks and weeks and weeks at their shop.... very frustrating.... and well into lemon law territory.
IMO these things fail ( on gt3 and above models) on average every 3-4k miles.... but porsche is betting on an average owner not driving these cars as much as people like me do and therefore them rarely encountering the problem...maybe once or twice in the lifetime of their ownership (specially under warranty coverage)
So they just shove the problem under the carpet.........
Possibility of full buyback has already been mentioned...
Will report more as this unfolds..
Disappointing ..very !

It appears a Porsche thermostat is similar to a Popsicle. It is 100% fine until one removes it from it's storage location. Once removed and put into service it frquently turns into a sticky mess.🤣
