So it appears that the direct market competitors, 991 GT3 and C7 Z06, are gonna BOTH be remembered down the road for major motor related problems their debut year

Porsche had just two documented failures and yet replaced ALL engines to ensure the problem wouldn't repeat, provided loaners, compensation, extended warranty, and now, a complimentary Porsche Experience event.

The question is, if this proves to be more than just a single isolated incident, how is Chevy going to respond?

"...who lives 540 miles away from where he bought the car, and used the drive home to properly break in his new Z06."
Wrong. Driving a new car on the highway at a constant rpm is no good.

"Note: the replacement-part cost for an Audi/Lamborghini V10 is about $25,000"
i say BS.

I'm not surprised at all. They are having serious issues (as reported in other forums) with that engine. From blown engine to serious heating issues (kiss tracking it goodbye).

What Porsche did was simply amazing when they had a few issues. No other manufacturer would have done that--and I can almost assure you GM won't touch that with a 10' pole.

Already hit press: https://autos.yahoo.com/news/first-2...234536392.html

Major ECU timing issues with the motor. Seems timing is pulled so much that GM issued a press release encouraging owners to seek an ECU tune if they didn't like it!!

If these guys can't get an ignition switch right how did anyone expect them to get this right. I'm not surprised at all. If this is not an isolated incident this could spell disaster for GM. The silver lining here is how many cars could have possibly been delivered thus far?

Didn't Motor-trend or Car and Driver magazine fail a engine in a new Corvette during lap testing last couple of months?
Comment stated GM blamed dirty oil.

I really don't think it's necessary to revel in another's problem.

We have fine cars. Really fine, in fact.

Let's just dwell on that.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out over time.

One engine doesn't make or break things.

They haven't started to produce their automatic Z06's yet.

Any car can have this kind of issue. Z06 is a fine car so is GT3. Can't we all get along

I'm not surprised about a motor problem. It happens. Chevy v8 motors are the most mass produced motor in the world. With that said, the Z06 motor is a lot more exotic. That motor is being pushed even harder. Chevy will fix and move on. Over all this power plant will be extremely reliable and will take a pounding.
