2nd porsche - 996 TT and a sapphire blue 991 GT3 due to arrive march 27 (? Latest in USA). If you guys think the depreciation is bad for your Porsches, try a jaguar. I have a sweet 2012 jag XKR-S (1/300) that I just put up for sale - perfect condition and under warranty til 2018. Msrp was $133k and I am asking $75k! Let me know if anyone is interested.

Second P-car (actually third if Cayenne counts), first 991 (or will be in Feb.).

OCturbo: That's pretty bad and I feel for you. If you're a glutton for punishment, though, try an Aston Martin.

Third 991. Had a Carrera and Turbo. IMO, the Carrera and Turbo were slightly "better" than the 997s I owned. Not enough to write home about. From my seat of the pants, my first two 991s seemed to handle about as well as similarly modeled 997s, while being more compliant. So the "better" part was that they were more comfortable. To be honest, that was something I could have done without. I'd have rather had the same comfort level with better handling.

OTOH, the 991 GT3 seems to me to be about the same level of comfort as a 997 GT3, but with significantly better handling (more grip, more predictable, and more stable). It's really amazing in a way because the 997 GT3 (and RS) was/is an exceptional handling car. This was the change I was looking for in the first two 991s.

The 991 GT3 is my first Porsche, first 911, first GT3.

I learned to track during the 997 era in my C55 AMG and 135i (stickshift), gradually decreasing my laptimes over the years. On typical track days, 997 Turbo's and 997 GT3's were consistently much faster than what I could manage.......the 997 C2, C4, C2S, C4S were never that much faster (if at all, depending on the drivers). Reading all the magazines, I got the impression that Porsche cars consistently punch "above their weight" in terms of their performance given their "modest" HP/torque levels.

So when I finally had the means to buy a P-car, there was no doubt in my mind what I wanted to make sure it was a big "step up" and offer a dramatically different driving experience from what I already had. High revving naturally aspirated engine with the latest fast shifting technology was EXACTLY what I wanted so the 991 GT3 fit the bill perfectly. The fact that the car has been universally praised by EVERY major auto magazine just was icing on the already very sweet cake I am enjoying.

First P ever was a 991 C2S that I had for 8 months. Traded that for 991 GT3. 1st GT3. After driving The GT3, I realized the C2S is not the car for me. Not a bad car by any means, just didn't quite cut the mustard. Night and day difference.

7th 911, 1st 991, 2nd GT3. Once my 991 GT3 is delivered ( possibly next week- fingers crossed)

Keeping my ole' 996 GT3 so I can still row a few gears when I feel like it. The 996 GT3 is my track car really. Plan on tracking the 991 GT3 a little and will assess the difference between the two. Who knows, perhaps the new GT3 will take over the track roll. Time will tell.
