No smoke. 200 miles. Very hard break in per race teams and PMNA. 8K with easy launches. Lots of varying revs up and down the rev range with compression braking.

Lots of smoke on start. Car has 100 miles. I think the mosquito population around my garage has been eradicated!

The dealer has a couple of glass walled bays for customer delivery. The guy that seats in the office next to them told me that everytime they deliver a new GT3 the smoke in the bays is as thick as fog.

There is a diff however between just plain condensation (white) and oil (bluish).

Mine does every so often. Usually after it has sat for a while.

Steam in front after a bath, smoke out exhaust once in a while, usually after she sits for a while after a good run. During first 1,200 miles it happened 2-3 times but not garage filling, combo oil/moisture burnoff.

Yes. My car apparently has it. At least 10x more smoke than my 996 and 997 GT3s.

Never had steam out the front after a wash. But I have made the brakes smoke and it appeared the front tires were also smoking (while parked) after a run up and down Palomar Mountain on Sunday early am. I assume it was due to hot tires meeting cool air.

I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Mine has smoked only occasionally since the first drive or two.

Thanks for the video. The SB looks awesome. M3 looks nice too. Haven't purchased a BMW for a while but this M3 looks tempting. Enjoy.

Mine also is more likely to smoke after a long sit (days). I think this is consistent with the fact that with boxer engines in general oil tends to accumulate in the bottom of the cylinder barrels. The longer the car sits, the more likely enough oil will accumulate to get burned off in a cloud of smoke at start up.

The break in conjecture simply doesn't fly. Because the pistons are horizontal, oil doesn't necessarily have to go past the rings as it pools up in the bottom side of the cylinder.

Exactly.

Agreed, this break in conjecture does not fly as it is just that.

The break in procedures or lack thereof ~depending on one's perspective~ have been beaten to death. That said, I would not take a race teams advice to break in my street car's engine. Race engines are just that. GT3s ~even the iconic Mezger; or as some still insist on calling them, Metzger and even Metlezer (sp) ~ are street engines. Just a generalized ramble from some earlier posts.

I have found that a Porsche recommended break in does not warrant a smoking engine, contrary to what some drive/stole crew may believe or want to believe.

My car used to smoke a lot before the recall.even at 3000km used to smoke almost every time. New engine not so much, but after sitting for a long time it will smoke and also have rough idle for few secs during warmup.

But hey i got 2 yrs extra warranty so not worried at all.

Mike, that's how my .2 GT3 acted exactly like you wrote. The longer it sits the better chance of smoking but this new car sometimes sits over a week but no smoke to date. Not sure what to think anymore. I just hope it doesn't smoke as soon as I finish this post

This is my 3rd GT3 and they all have smoked intermittently with no rhyme or reason. My Cayman S did the same. I used to get a laugh if it smoked up on start up out and about with Jo Public in attendance

Blue smoke out the back and steam out the front, both of which freaked me out.
