I have 1800 miles and have yet to smoke. My other P cars were mostly smokers except couple of them.

noticeably once on start up, coming up 3000 miles now
once had steam rolling out of front hood vent at stop light after 5 miles of driving after washing the car, figured it was water from washing on front radiator possibly enter thru top bumper /hood vent

Based on the comments, I'm betting the smoking will mostly stop once the engine is broken in. I still have only have 250 miles or so on the odo.

Interesting theory. Maybe we should do a straw poll.

I broke in pretty conservatively, not exceeding 5k for first 1,000 miles and then gradually building to 7 and not 9k until after 2,000. Shortly after that also an early oil change.

I got smoke loads at the start but now after 7,000 miles it's about 1 in 5 starts.

Mine smoked nearly every start until about 300 miles. I'm a bit over 500 miles now and it hasn't smoked I the last 5 starts. Keeping it under 4500 so far.

I have 1500 miles on it and only had one smoke start, but that was after an oil change
and about the tenth start after that.

If it's raining heavily, and I come to a stop or pull into a garage, I get steam coming out of the front hood vent from the radiators.

Big white cloud of smoke each time I started. Driving it only once or twice a week. 350 miles.

I wonder if people are getting more or less smoke depending on how they broke them in. How about those of you who did the buy it, turn the key and drive it like you stole it technique? Obviously there's a lot of differing opinions on the best break-in procedure but I'm wondering if the people who pretty much drove the car all the way to 9K immediately seated the rings quickly resulting in less smoke? I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Those that are getting smoke, on a rainy day, out of the front is different than smoke from the tailpipes. The smoke out of the front is the cold rain hitting the hot radiator(steam). This is very typical. After driving your car you can feel the heat by the radiators up front. Be careful putting any cold beer in your front trunk because that compartment gets pretty warm.
