Default DILEMMA

My car should arrive from the port this week. I wanted to have it shipped from the dealer to my home in Charleston SC. The earliest I can get a transporter(Passport or Intercity) is the week of the 9th of Nov. and then it could take a week. Should I drive it down from Westchester, it's 800 miles or suck it up and wait another 3 weeks +. I ordered this car in March. The 2 transporters I mentioned are the only 2 that gave me pickup estimates before Thanksgiving. This is snowbird migration time in NY, everyone is shipping a car to FLA.

Go get it... not worth the wait and you can get your break in miles over with. Good chance to vary RPM's, engine brake, etc.

No brainer IMHO. An awesome way to get to know the car.

By all means drive it to your home. One benefit is you will have broken it in by then, met the 1000 mile break in period. Another benefit is you can just relax along the way, dig into the manual, become familiarized with the car.

There are other people that will go get cars. A lot of guys in the flat towing business will go get a car for you. 800 miles is a long time in a GT3 in what could be bad weather. The dealer will have several people he uses.

800 miles. Even with a pee break and a brand new car that's a one day event. Drive it. Halfway thru when you and your car get adjusted you will be in triple digits almost all of the time. This is a very fast cruiser. It really wants to run Trust me on this. It takes no effort at all to hit triple digits and then it just wants to play there. Very very fast road cruiser. Did you get the comfy seats. If so. An even more pleasant drive

Unless you care about clear bra or, putting on almost 1k miles for transport, what everyone else is saying.

Dan (isn't so sure I'd drive it)

I would wait for it and the reason is break in on HWY miles is not a good idea. Refer to manual. I wont even do that to my motorcycle let alone a GT3.
