4200?
That's lunacy. How can you drive 3000km below 4200 - the sports exhaust doesn't even start sounding proper there!
They treat you Americans like infants don't they? The ROW manual says warm the engine don't do Motorsports and don't rev the engine too high or excessively especially when cold for first 3000 Kms.
The factory tech at Stuttgart Zentrum said run a tank of gas through varying rpm and keeping below 7000 then after that drive it like you normally would making sure the engine was warm before high rpm.
My first engine I was pretty good for first 1500 km not often going above 8000 rpm.bi did 3500 on that unit.
By the time second engine arrived I had grown older so I used the old German porsche techs theory and by the second tank had a high rpm session at my local track. That engine now has just hit 2000 miles but had three track days and some fast road duties under its belt and runs very nicely. A mate of mine with new GT3 used my second engine break in for both his engines basically taking them both to the track within the first 400 miles his seem just fine to. They threw the Porsche GB demo on the track well before the official 2000 miles and journos gave it the living day lights until it had done 8000 miles and the recall started....
It's been trashed to death here. Choose your own method there is no right or wrong but good luck watching your tachometer constantly for 4200 rpm for 2000 miles. carpe Diem!
