How much attention does it get?
So one of the things I loved about my 991S was that it was generally "under the radar". One other car I considered was an R8, but during the test drive, I had no less than 4 people snapping pictures of the car.
I'm a pretty low key guy and appreciate these cars not for the attention they get, but for the enjoyment of the machine and the engineering. For the 991 GT3 owners out there - is it annoying or does the GT3 not get a ton of attention on the road.
I'm all for the little kid coming up and asking if they can sit in it, and love that I can make a kids day, but the teenagers hanging out the window taking pics that I experienced in my R8 test drive might get old after a while.
Interested in your experience, fellow RL'ers.

I'm in your camp on this one and I too would like to read about other RL'ers views. Staying inconspicuous is the way I like to be. Its one of the reasons I choose GT Silver. Also why I may not get the Sharkwerks exhaust.

I've owned both, the 991 GT3 and R8, there is no comparison. In my town, 911's are a dime a dozen. People don't give the GT3 a second look. The R8 is another story, people freak out everywhere, there is no escape.
While it may be town/state dependent, 911's, including the GT3 are so ubiquitous and generic looking that they are ignored. My 991 GT3 is my third GT3 and I don't get any attention. My orange 997 GT3RS however got lots of attention.

It's the young women that take their panties off and throw at my car that really ticks me off. It causes micro marring.

I wanted to be low key as well which is the reason why I didn't get the 458 or R8. Total FAIL. The GT3 gets a lot of attention. Blame it on the wing.
The good thing is that it still gets less than the 458 or the R8. You can't win.

The sales person was telling me how "driving an R8 is a movie star experience". Little did he know, that's exactly what I didn't want to hear. Would have bought it if it weren't for the constant pictures and gawking.

Based on my personal experience - in this area, an R8 or MP4-12C got crazy attention. (even in darker grey colors) It's one of the reasons I sold those cars!
A GT3RS in clown car colors got lots of attention.
A GT3, Turbo S, and GT2 were all pretty much ignored. It will likely vary on where you live.

Same here in the Boston area. My 997 GT3 hardly gets a glance from anybody on the street, even though GT3's here are practically nonexistent on the street. Every so often, I get a thumbs up, and very infrequently I get somebody that pulls alongside and wants to race (I ignore them). I prefer to fly under the radar.

My R8 V10 Spyder got too much attention. It made me a little uncomfortable. The thing with the R8 is I used to drool when I saw it and that is why I got it. But after 5 months I got bored of the looks. I actually liked the way the 911 looked better and I think it is because I always loved 911s as a kid and always wanted one. They are timeless and I have never gotten sick of a Porsche in my garage. Call me crazy, I guess. Have had 3 so far
The 991 GT3 gets a heck of a lot of attention but not as much as the R8 which is perfect. Just enough, that it is satisfying, but not enough that it is annoying. I am also finding any one in a 911 drooling over it more than any one else. Had a older gentlemen and his wife in a Black C2S convertible pull up next to me on Sunday at a stop light with his tongue was hanging out. We exchanged a little small talk and it was a right hand turn at the light so after saying good bye I gave it a little punch and broke the rears loose a little and did a perfect little slide and punch and he must of grew hair on his head after seeing that and hearing the SW bypass. I love this car. I can lose the rear when ever I want but it is so easy to control it that I am a "hooligan".

Guys, a 911 is a 911. No matter what model of 911 it is, most people cannot differentiate whether it's a base Carrera, GT3, Turbo S, etc. Most big cities have a bunch of 911's and therefore they may get ignored.
I live in Miami and 911's are dime a dozen here, and people do not look astonished when they see my car (it's a 997.2 not a 991 but still). Yeah, some people turn their heads and take a glance but I've never had anyone snap a pic.
The area you live in is a big factor. If there are barely any 911's (or any expensive sports cars) in the area and then even if you had a base Carrera then people would really notice. So I'd say it's a semi-under the radar car. You will not get the same attention as R8, Ferrari, Lambo, etc. which for me is good.
