100%. You have zero chance of passing in a bone stock GT3.

Stock 981 boxsters with sport exhaust don't even pass.

Been there, done that. 100% sure. Search for user Mikymu's Laguna sound fix. That _might_ get you there, but I recommend the turn away pipes.

I'm glad you're ok Max, and the car only suffered minor damage.

Listen to the Norcal track wh0res

Coming out of T5, you'll be on throttle, which means you'll be above 4-5k rpm, which is when the exhaust valve opens in non sport mode. So it's moot point if sport mode or not.

Either coast through T5 and lose ton of momentum, fit a turn down pipe to the left, plug up the valve so it's always closed, or have a shop like TCD wire a switch to manually open and close the valve, which is what I did.

Ok. Thanks for the tip. The track day that I'm going to is limiting to 90db. If I plug up the valve, will it be enough? Or do I need to get a turn down pipe?

Glad you are OK Max. Also glad the car is OK and only suffered minor damage. This could have been much worse. You are being looked after. Mark

Thanks.

Yeah, I've was only going under 85mph at just about half throttle, and cornering at 90% grip - plenty of cushion for someone slamming brakes in front of me . Well, 5 years ago, I'd have been paralyzed from fear in that situation and would have needed a new car or at least new pants. Now I was just angry at myself that I could not avoid hitting the curb and had to end the day early. It was a pretty cheap lesson, so I'm lucky indeed.

90db...what a joke. Just skip the insanity and find a track that will let you drive a normal car on the track. What's next 88db? 85db?

90 dB is ludicrous -- at some point, the local bitches will have pushed it so far that it becomes easier to win back realistic sound limits.
As for passing sound, it's going to take the sharkwerks turnips, heat shield, PSE defeat switch and perhaps even a stack of supertraps on the turnips with a bracket to support the weight from the recovery hook. The trick is to put anti-seize on the threads so that the heat doesn't cause thread binding (to swap back to the normal tips.) A 13mm wobble socket and extension, some heat-proof work gloves, a drop cloth to work under the rump of the car and presto ... the luxury and glamor of amateur motorsport!
