if they facelift the carrreras in 2016, then they will most likely facelift the turbos and GT3 in 2017. Right around the time the 960 is launched.
The facelift shouldnt be too extreme. The engine and tranny will remain the same however.

Beyond MY2015 the future of the 991GT3 is quite uncertain. There has been a great deal of discussion about emissions and fleet average MPG putting pressure on the GT series cars.
There are a number of possibilities.
1. Porsche gets another Euro 5 emissions extension and we see a facelift of the current GT cars.
2. Porsche brings a face lifted GT car with a hybrid driveline.
3. Porsche brings a face lifted GT car with a turbo charged motor.
4. The 960 becomes the next GT car.
Personally I think a hybrid drive train is definitely coming and goes right along the path already forged with the 918. Imagine a 300hp gas power plant in the rear and 200 additional electric coupled in ala 918.

As some of you know, FIA & ACO plans to introduce a single, lower-cost set of GT regulations in 2015. The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile and Auto Club l’Oueste will devise regulations for a new GT class (racing cars based on street-legal sports cars). Porsche is studying all its options and we really don't yet know if they will replace the current 991 gt3 program with one based on the new mid-engine 960 or continue with the rear-engined 911. But it wouldn't surprise me to see them go with the 960!

I think in the past, the facelift has always brought a power bump. The 996.1 had 360hp, 996.2 had 381hp. 997.1 had 415hp and 997.2 had 435hp and larger displacement of 3.8L.

The most recent history is as follows. MY2007/2008 .1 997 gt3. MY2010/MY2011 .2 997 gt3. So there was only one year's absence of the gt3 model after the .2 997 facelift. There was no MY2009 gt3! MY2016 will be the facelift year for the 991, coming early in 2015. So if history is an indicator, we would see a .2 991 gt3 in MY2017...two years from now in calendar year 2016. But this might all be a moot point if there is no .2 991 gt3!

Yes, fully aware of the productions years for all GT3/RSs. As I said, if history is an indicator 3 years from now. They may arrive 2016 but would be MY2017s as you stated and we know; again IF history is an indicator. We are discussing the same timeline.

Yes. And, .2s had the largest improvements/changes; basically a new model. Variable cam exhaust valves added for much improved mid-range torque. The 20hp power bump felt like 40hp. Suspension improvements, DEMs, wheels, CLs, front/rear facias, wing, sunroof delete, etc. Whether CLs and DEMS were improvements is in the eye of the beholder as they say.

I think when it comes to this gen of GT3, it's fair to say that a lot is up in the air right now! Will be interesting to see if there's a 991.2 version...
After all, not much has gone according to plan and the plan itself has deviated from what was expected...

What are we talking about - an 991.2 all ready.... ****.
And man, from the last 997.2 GT3 we went from 435BHP to 475BHP with the newer 991. Same displacement but the 997.2 was the last of the Mezgers and now with the 991 its the new 9A1 engine. Thats the biggest jump in power I've seen for any Porsche. That's a good 9.19% increase in power. But Porsche, if they wanted too could have made the bump in power with their plain jane 997.2 GT3.
Will this mean, then, that the facelifted 991.2 GT3 will be pumping out 500BHP? Then what about the then to come along RS to do - Johnny come lately? I know I'm purposefully putting the carriage in front of the horse. Just wish they would hurry and officially release news or even unveil the GT3RS... Is it going to be turbocharhed?

I am saying 3 model years. Sure, assuming the aforementioned, MY2017 cars would arrive in 2016. I don't think they would be here in 2 years however. We would see those in 2.3 - 2.4 years, but what's another .4...
Is it really that important?

Right now folks Id say the factory are having a real head scratch as to weather to continue the GT3 line at all given VAGs management and the recent debacle.
IMO its WAYYYYYY too premature to be considering a Gen2 GT3.
Anyone telling you there is one is guessing.

I don't need to read your post again. I can tell a 2 from a 3. I am saying 3 model years. Sure, assuming the aforementioned, MY2017 cars would arrive in 2016.
