Michael Stead Porsche in Walnut Creek, CA, has a 2014 Basalt Black GT3 for sale. Just posted it.
The background (according to them) is that it belonged to an owner with a 918 on order. After all the drama, he decided to return it.
Here's the kicker: the dealer said that the car cannot / will not leave the dealership until the engine swap is performed. They claim that the engine swap for that car will be done in 2-3 weeks.
If the dealer is to be believed--about the car being a 918 allocation (meaning likely one of the first on US soil) and if the 2-3 week timeframe is real information (yes, those are 2 really big "IFs"...), then it means all of us waiting for for an engine swap are truly a lot closer to a resolution.

The information about an engine swap in two to three weeks is what is important. Assuming the dealer knows what he is talking about this is terrific news. The ball is rolling!

This is good news. I have been thinking recently that once PAG finishes up their testing and are able to finalize the "complexity of the necessary arrangement" (PCNA's own words in last week's communication), things could happen fast for the first GT3s, i.e., the ones that have already been delivered.
Quick action could be possible because we have already had several eyewitness reports of GT3 engines being produced on the production line at Stuttgart. Witnesses also reported that those engines were not being "married" to new GT3s because the engines were being stockpiled for installation into the GT3s that had already been shipped. This was all reported in the Stop Sale thread.
I have done a factory tour and based on what I know, the engine factory can produce more than 650 engines per day for all models of the Porsche line. They could easily be producing 20 or even 40 GT3 engines per day. If this has been going on for over a week, they could have 100 to 200 engines already in inventory. Once given the go-ahead, these engines could be air freighted and installed in just a few days.

I hear various installation time estimates.
I assume Porsche would advise the dealer an engine is on its way and the dealer as Joe pointed out can start to and remove the existing engine.
So how long would it a take a dealer to INSTALL an engine? I suspect since Porsche is paying for it, the dealer is given definitive time parameters for removal and installation.
