From what I've heard, motorsports has had a hell of a time getting the required durability out of the new motor so far. Reports of them blowing up on in house test stands trying. FYI. Hope they get it sorted soon.
Interesting. Can you share which parts are failing since there are some shared parts according to
PET UPD 335 02/02/14 and I'd like to know if my 9A1 has one of the shared or non-shared parts?

I always enjoy reading your posts Pete, what others believe is their personal problem.
Truth be told or not, whoever believes there's no racing engine due to homologation is deluding themselves.
There will be a new racing engine,I have no doubt, but it won't be the one in the 991GT3.

I do not know, and I think they understandably want to keep this information close to the vest. However the stress/ vibration the GT3 motor puts its parts under, running to 9k+ rpm, is going to be far more than the regular 9A1. Thus even if shared parts were failing I wouldn't necessarily be concerned if I were you. I think looking towards towards Grand Am etc, as you're doing, is your best bet.

They are working on it, and they are a persistent bunch- I don't think they have given up on the motor yet. I personally wouldn't bet against them...

Don't worry - it won't be in the GT3RS either.

I'm new to this forum. My GT3 has been siting in Emden as well (according to my dealer). I would like to here what exactly everyone thinks the difference is from the original engine to an engine Porsche would risk and put in its place (assuming all specs are confirmed to be the same). Facts only please no emotional comments nor speculation.

I agree,I'm not betting against them...as a matter of fact,I was one of those 100% convinced the new engine will end up in the CUP car eventually. I wish I can find my posts to prove it...
That was when they first announced the 991GT3.
Now things have changed...
I'm really hoping they will change once more, this time for the better!

In the EVO video interview when asked if the new 9a1 engine will be raced his response was "i guess so". Not a very strong endorsement!

The head of Porsche Motorsport is quoted as saying that Porsche will not invest millions of Euros on a new GT motorsport engine until the new FIA GT regulations are finalized. That's why your seeing the Mezger engine in the 991 chassis. The new GT regulations are being reported to be completed in time for 2016. With LMP and F1 going to fuel flow regulations - we may end up seeing more turbos in GT cars :-(

^^Agreed.

He said, "I guess so" -- but with a suggestive tone and smirk, so it was assumed that meant "yes." But that has not materialized as of yet.

The Le Mans engine is a V-configuration, like the RS Spyder was, only a 4 now instead of an 8.
Nope - it's still the Mezger. EXCELLENCE published the interview. You may see the 9a1 in Cup sprint racing - but doesn't look like you will see the current variant in top level ACO/FIA endurance racing.
