Mesh for front wheel wells
#31
Count me out. I'm a DIY'r. I've already got the black aluminum mesh material (left over from my 997 c2 front grill screens). It shouldn't take me more than 30 minutes, which means I should plan for 2 hours. And, by the way, the front grill screens on my 997 look better than Rennline's.

David, you're correct, the GT3 front wheel liners are unique in that they have the larger ducting. Park Place parts dept. helped confirm as well. I didn't realize, but the Park Place guys were saying the liners are model and option specific. For example, the Carrera with aero package has a wheel liner unique to that option. I found that fascinating for some reason... probably because it doesn't seem very efficient of Porsche to make so many slightly different molds, but at the same time I'm impressed that they engineer down to the minutia of the wheel liner for model/option specific cars.
This week is busy since we're in Sebring, but I'll snap some pictures of the race car wheel wells for you all. Then we'll get this project rolling the following Monday. I suppose nobody is taking their car out anytime soon

Should we check with Park Place to see if we can do a group buy? It might be nice to get these in hand and have them installed when the engines get swapped.

Why are these needed and if needed isn't this Porsche problem since we have a five year warranty?
Porsche designed the GT3 for track work and I cannot believe they overlooked this. They must have had a good reason not to install a screen there. AND if the lack thereof leads to a radiator replacement Porsche will replace.
Finally, it is possible that the new engines have this screen if in fact Porsche overlooked this with the original engine.

You must have missed the thread of another 991 GT3 owner who threw a rock into the radiator. He lost all coolant and the car was flat bedded to the dealer. Initially the dealer said it wasn't covered by the warranty. Later they relented and fixed it.

Maybe as a result of the incident Porsche will install the screen on the replacement engines. I cannot believe Porsche would even try to turn down a warranty claim given they know about the screen function since they have it on the S.

Capital City Motorsports in Sacramento. Gary Biehl is the crew chief on our Park Place cars and can make mesh fender liners for the radiators or front grilles no problem. He's a little busy until we're done with Sebring next weekend. Can I help put you guys in touch? http://www.capitalcitymotorsports.com/
