According to Wikipedia:

997.1 2006-2009
GT3 2378 units
RS 1908

997.2 2010-2011
GT3 N/A
RS Approx. 1600
4.0 RS 600

f4 plt, are you saying you have a source that shows they built fewer 7.2 GT3's than they did any other 7.1 or 7.2 model? Or conversely, that Wikipedia's numbers are that far off?

Thanks, Mike I came across the Wikipedia article along with others--none came close to justifying the numbers that were suggested, so I was curious also.

^^Yeah Tim, I've looked for numbers before and these were the only ones I could find. If f4 plt has another source I'd be very interested.

Exactly, Mike. 585 for 2 years is beyond shocking if substantiated. Especially when the RS 4.0 famously had a run of 600 units on its own...

What? Supposedly ~800 991 GT3s have been made worldwide. You're telling us that only 600 997.2 GT3s were ever made worldwide... similar numbers to the RS 4.0 and much less than the 997.2 RS?? Might need to go back and do some more research...

f4 plt, don't get infected by those 997.2 guys. 997.2 is a great car, has it's own merits which rival the 991 GT3, but it's not unicorn blood unobtainium. Stay out of the circle jerk. Not good.

What's wrong with asking for perfection in a 200k car? I don't know about you but I work hard for that 200k.

Remember that millions and millions and millions of cars are sold every year and the majority of them are done so without stop sales and stop using recalls. And the majority of these millions of cars sold don't cost 200k.

I believe f4 is correct. There were way more 997.2rs produced than the 997.2 gt3. Porsche caught on decided that there are many knuckleheads willing to shell out >$20K for the rs variant.

Remember, engineers don't sell cars (i.e., Preuninger). Sales people and the marketing dept. sell cars. Every successful company needs marketing expertise. That's why, I never bought into the Kool-aid of PDK sucks, then a year later PDK is awesome. Or electric steering sucks and then electric steering is the bomb. It goes on and on.

Well I actually did buy into the Kool-aid and will do it again. Wait until the 2nd iteration of the rs then things will be ironed out. I just hope the recent fires can be fixed (a la Ferrari) else, prosche is going to need a design overhaul.

Thanks. Although the link you reference is for the RS; we'd like numbers for the GT3 too.

Mike you are so polite! There is no way those low numbers on the 997 are correct. It's called trolling.

Mike,

http://www.gt3rsregistry.com/docs/HowMany.htm

Bad economy in US around that time frame could be contributing factor?

Anyhow.. Was hoping one of the geniuses on the forum could take a break from the internet this week and call Porsche this to tell them how to fix the issue..

I have a good weather window and was hoping to get out and DRIVE.
