Hi Jerry,
14th of November I'm gatting my 2015 GT3 and will be installing my GT2 Seats that I had in my 2010 GT3, I need a roll bar. I saw a friends 2014 GT3 with your roll-bar in it but it was not a solid bar but an assembled on in pieces. What bar would you recommend and how much?
Thanks,
Jerry from Massachusetts.

Hello Jerry,

Due to the size of the roll bar it has to be assembled into two pieces.

The only alternative to that would be to weld in a cage

Less obtrusive harness bars which span the width of the car, and are intended only to secure the shoulder belts, may be available somewhere. But I still plan to put in a proper roll bar.

The harness bar in the link is almost as big a as this roll bar. Why would anyone consider it ? Hopefully Brey Krause will make a 991 version at some point. I am going to do this roll bar if my dealer is willing to install it.

Rockitman,

Yes, Porsche dealerships have started to become more friendly with aftermarket parts than ever. As you can see from our growing dealer list - http://www.gmgracing.com/dealers/ - many of our high volume dealers are Porsche dealerships. Please send me an email to Jerry@GMGRacing.com with your shipping address and I will work on setting you up with a local dealership or installer.

I am new to this, so please excuse what may be silly questions: Without a horizontal bar, does it make it difficult to mount cameras back there?

GMG, I have a question about fit. At least two rennlisters have said it was a bitch and the bar alignment/anchor points were way off. Can you please comment? Thanks, Allan

Could be early production teething problems. Sometimes it takes a couple tries to get the weld sequence dialed and the fixtures shimmed up right. Hopefully they've gotten it sorted out by now.

And I'd love to hear specifically how they "normalize" the bar after welding. Is it just air cooled (not true normalizing), or is actually done in an oven (which I see no signs of in the pics)?
