FWIW, the 458 has a 22.7 gallon tank which at about 6 LBS per gallon comes to 136 LBS added to the dry weight. Add coolant, engine and gearbox oil, etc. and the car will be lucky to come in under 3000 LBS DIN.

What do you usually do to get a teat-drive? sport the diamond encrusted Rolex or flash the centurion card?

I only get invites to test drive cars I've expressed interest in. For instance I get invites to all the Porsche events and MacLaren up in the bay area still calls me up once a week trying to get me to test their Spider.
But the big thing is I never ask to test drive a car the first time I visit a dealership. I usually like to talk to the sales managers if possible first that way I can show them I'm just as educated in their product as their employees or even more so.

I just came home from Germany. 1st stop Frankfurt autos how. Saw the Ferrari both and Speciale. It's a smoking cool car from every angle. no smoke all serious italian F1 passion.
No ones going to get that car unless they are a preferred long time volume Ferrari buyer. Early production 458 Specialies will start flipping at 450k to half million. Ferrari buyers on an entirely different .
The good news is that regular 360, 430, and 599 and 458 cars will be taking a further hit and prices get reasonable so Porsche guys can sample and drive other cars from the Dark Side!
I wish Porsche would be brave and switch up and change the look of the cars like Ferrari and Mercedes do all the time. A new rear end and front end wouldn't hurt. Each and very Porsche since the 996 and 997 all look exactly the same unless its a gt3rs even then not much difference.
Porsche museum was good. I saw lots of 991 GT3 engine parts in building that peered into.
BMW Welt was simply amazing. Wife wouldn't go to Mercedes.

if you can land a brand new special edition Ferrari and or any new Ferrari and JUMP "Chosen List" that is a major accomplishment. I wish you the very best of luck in Dubai!
In the USA there is an informal list and even celebrities can jump it............the only way to get a new edition Ferrari or very Special Edition is to pay Fifty to several hundred thousand extra after the initial cars start getting flipped.
For example when the Ferrari 360 Spider came out in 2001 cars in the USA were trading at $300K to $350K.
What color are you going to choose? Sounds exciting. Trying to talk the wife into a California and trading in the GTC.

While that's the story most dealers spin when you window shop, reality is different for buyers ready to write checks. Buddy just bought new Ferrari. First time buyer, ordered from factory, waited 6mos for delivery and paid MSRP.

I don't want to sound pedantic, but if Ferrari as a whole or this dealership in particular cannot or does not want to see the life-time profit potential of a 36-year old buying this car cash, then I guess it's not meant to be... if they don't 'allow' me to buy the car that I want, trust me, I certainly won't buy one that I don't want.
And all this hassle to put it to the test back-to-back with my 991 GT3 to see which one I like best!
On colors, I'm looking at white with a grey stripe or, rather different, black with golden alloys and a golden stripe. Not red, that's for sure...
