The microsite at porsche.com, on the other hand is a bit "tries to hard". Music drowns out the engine, blah.

firstly i said i want it , after thinking the 10 inches less when under the 50 mph
the harshness , the weight , the cost , maybe worth just for pdk and engine
not loving 4 wheel steering or the stiffness on DD but to beat some friends when on track with their ferrari yes

What does he mean, at 6:10, when he says "the crankcase is a raw part, its not a machined part"?

I am guessing he means its a totally new piece rather than a mod of the old one.

You may be right, except I think its the other way around- the crankcase is one of only a few parts they kept. Because he goes on to say its the crankcase, cylinder head bolts, cam drive train chain and the generator, "full stop. Everything else is totally new." He then goes on to list titanium rods, crankshaft, forged pistons, all new cylinder head with rocker arms like on a motorcycle, not tappets .... 475 hp... "and I tell you, this is a very conservative figure, so the car really goes like hell."
No doubt.
Beautiful forged wheels. All new suspension. Rear wheel steering. Best of all you can see in his face they really put a lot into this car. "You don't want to get out. Its a GT3."

Really though, what else is he going to say?
I don't like the 20" wheels, or the apparent retention of the all bling, no benefit CL's. I wish it was strictly form follows function with a motorsports proven engine.

I don't know, but he seemed pretty passionate when he looked directly into the camera and said he wasn't a "marketing guy". I got the impression AP was very much invested in building a great, involving, fun car. He sounded like a car guy talking about something he was very proud of; not a marketeer trying to sell a product. He already knows they will sell every one of these things they can build.

I didn't get the same feeling as you. To me it seemed like he was almost trying to justify the fact that they are feeding the track enthusiasts a bunch of unwanted stuff.

much as I hate to say it, haven't there been enough instances in the past where AP has been known to tow the company line?

at this point, the only person whom you can trust to say what he really thinks is Walther Rohrl. i mean, he too will fall back on the company line, but he sometimes allows things to slip thru before correcting himself.
