Default Looking for advice on gt3

Hey All,
just wondering what this group thinks of this deal. I have a 991.2 GTS and I was looking to get into a gt3. Have a potential deal on a 2018 Lava O. FAL, PCCB, 18 way with appropriate deviated stitching. 3 pedal car with 7k miles. MSRP was 185 I think. Here’s the issue, car was cpo in 2020 with 6k mikes. Current owner hardly drove it after that only about 1k. Car is one state and he’s in another so he doesn’t want to take the time to do a ppi or dme. Plenty of pictures that show no warning signs but other than that? Talked with owner and he seems to be the kind that thinks his time is worth more to him than anything else. Kind of a snobbish *** older gentalman imo. Deal is done at 178k. Not bad for todays market and still another year on cpo. What the thoughts as I’d be new to the gt3 realm.

Doesn't seem to be the case as the seller won’t fly in to complete the transaction. He has a third party handling the sale. CPO should not miss over revs as that’s one of the things they base the warrant off of.

I would wait till next year … prices are softening across the board for 991.1 and .2 and will fall further.

while I get that it might be inconvenient for the seller to PPI etc ... and its unlikely that there are any issues occurring in the 1k that he drove it, I think its only reasonable to expect a buyer to want one, at least a DME report...

(what for example would invalidate existing CPO coverage - a bunch of high range overrevs?)

if he's selling "as is" then I think there should be some negotiation on price as a result ... since he's discounting from MSRP I imagine this has already occurred?

I'd probably pass - there are more fish in the sea...

Don't touch it without a current over rev report. Take it from someone who's accidentally rev'd the crap out of his .2, it's (too) easily done with this gearbox.

Thanks for that info! That was one of my. Ingest concerns as my GTS is a pdk. I’ve had lots of MT cars but never one in a Porsche

In these situations I always go with my gut. My gut is undefeated. You do what you feel is best but I would be walking on down the road.

Another vote for walking. Our perspective here is a little skewed - $ 178k buys a house for a lot of people. Asking for PPI is to be expected from any rational buyer. Even if seller's time is 'extraordinarily valuable', he is either hiding something with the car or completely out of touch with reasonable expectations.

Thanks for the quick responses all, you helped me reaffirm my fealings. My gut was saying move on even though this has been one of my desirable colors for a long, long time. Looks like I'll just stick with my 991.2 GTS for the time. Winters coming.

there will be others ...

another last ditch approach - hold the title and payment in escrow and have a PPI performed yourself?

If your heart is set and the car ticks all the correct boxes (color features milage etc), then offer him more money. Tell him you cannot buy a used car without a PPI (which you will pay for), and if everything checks out offer him more money (1-2K more) for the 'inconvience'.

He is going to have to get all the paperwork (manuel, keys, etc) and eventually get the car ready for sale one way or the other, but if the intent is to buy on the spot with a clean PPI, that is probably all the current owner wants, a commitment as there probably are more tire kickers and low ballers out there that he is probably frustrated with.

If the car is Porsche CPO and you have a DME report that you find acceptable, then why not.
If anything happens, you are covered by the Porsche CPO and you can still extend the Porsche CPO for a good number of years.
The price is in the lower range for a MT GT3 with that mileage.

If you really like the car, you may pull the trigger. The seller might not be inclined to do a PPI because the car is CPO and he did not drive it much so he probably does not want the hassle, barring the fact that he may also have several other buyers who may be happy with CPO and without PPI.
Input of Deven is good, make it easy for the seller to have the PPI done.

It's only "CPO" until they read the DME and there's a bunch of range 6 over revs that weren't there 1000 miles ago... you don't know until you check.
