Does anyone have data to back up the different 911R RWS tuning vs the GT Cars? Sounds like hearsay... I can say for sure there are no special settings in the RWS module for 911R, and the part number of the unit is the same...

My understanding is that the software was programmed differently for the R to give it a more lively (but perhaps less stable) driving feel at moderate speeds.

I think one of the reasons that the 911R has a much higher top speed than the S/T is because the RWS makes the car less of a handful at autobahn speeds than it would be without it.

Porsche’s reasoning is that the lower gearing of the S/T is the reason for the 300kph top speed, but I did the math and that is simply not true (it is electronically speed limited - it has the power at high revs, Cd, and gearing to allow a speed around 200mph). But without lots of downforce and without RWS, I’m guessing they didn’t think it was a good idea.

I guess, but what I am trying to get is where are the special 911R steering and RWS parts? The part number for the steering rack is the same across all 991.1's. The module does not have a 911R setting, just GT3, Carrera 2/S, and Carrera 4/S.

The RWS hardware is the same. The module does not have a 911R setting.

A 911R is brought into a Porsche certified shop that needs repair. Where are the special 911R steering parts?

I just can't help but ask these questions. I'm not doubting there's special sauce, but where is it?

Nobody is claiming bespoke hardware. The "special sauce" is in the software (how much the rear wheels turn relative to the front wheels and at what speeds they change from steering out of phase with the front axle to being in phase with the front axle, etc. All of that is electronically controlled, not a fixed mechanical setup. The rear axle is effectively steer-by-wire and highly adjustable).

But where is the special software? It's not on the modules. Porsche legally has to make it available to repair shops, if it exists.

I don't know that much about it, but I assume there is a steering file accessible on the PWIIS that is only approved for VIN numbers for 911R's. But again, I am not very familiar with this...

Do you have access to modules for the single mass and dual mass flywheel programming from your system?

Or do you just see one set of module programming?
