Default your thoughts on a maintenance item

Morning ...
I've completed the fluid change out and the cabin filters.
I was thinking of doing plugs and coil packs. I have them in my parts locker but I was curious about something.

The car has 8,300 miles on it and if I assume they are the original plugs, is it worth the effort to make the change? From looking at the ease of access, compared to my other car's its easy but still ...

My intent was to bring the maintenance current, given I don't have a log of what was done when, but in this case is it just too soon regardless?

thanks for your input

the manual indicates plugs to be changed every 2 years. lots of discussion of whether that is necessary. I've always followed the book though. You didn't say what year the car is but if the plugs are original to the car they are overdue per the book.

I'd also consider the drive belt. I believe it's due at 4 years. may look fine but they deteriorate with time and make a mess if it fails.

2016 is the year and I am assuming they are original, as worst case scenario .. but I see your point ... very valid ....

agreed on the drive belt . another member also suggested that ...

appreciate the feedback/confirmation ..

Check your tensioner for leaking. Takes a bit of finesse and a 2nd pair of hands is helpful.

I just did my 4yr service, dealership insisted that it be replaced even although v.low mileage ... the belt can degrade and break apparently.

I went with BMC air filters since they are OEM on RS ... and since you have to take the bumper off - a good time to do any exhaust mods ...

ohhhhh .. I like where you are going with this ... from what I can see... the car has the side muffler deletes ... when I go the Long Beach GP .. I always wished for my future Porsche to have that "sound" without necessarily the loudness... if that makes sense ..still very new and not that savvy to know what is what....

I would do the plugs and leave the coils as is. You will know it when they fail and it could be many years from now. The 16 has the latest coil packs the previous ones failed.

yep! - my GT3 "barely" passed sound with the OEM system ... and I have yet to "test" it with the Soul valved bypass ... but I also have a set of Soul "turn downs" that bolt onto the OEM center...

well... ahead of the next atmospheric river heading towards Cali.... Los Angeles area specifically, the weather was sunny .. so I put the 3RS back on the quickjacks ... loosened the oil filter a bit to bring the oil back into the green, put the engine plate on and went for a quick drive. Man I missed driving it .....
ordered the sparkplug socket so when that arrives, I'll replace the plugs. I have new coil packs, so not sure if I will replace, just to set everything to zero or leave per SmokinGTS...

Next will be the air filters and pulley/tensioner...

I'll need to source a good place to do window tint ahead of the summer ...
