Default 991.2 GT3RS or 718 GT4RS?

Just curious to see which one you would pick and why?

Would definitely need seat (& track) time in the latter to decide. 4RS is very compelling. Doesn't influence me one way or the other, but interesting take on the 4RS in the Evo COTY.

You already have the right answer: both!! When the dust settles, I truly believe the GT4RS and the 991.2 GT2RS and GT3RS, will be recognized as the greatest Porsches of the late ICE era. I'm lucky enough to have a GT2RS and GT3T (both in Chalk) and there's an Arctic Grey GT4RS with my name on it sitting on the dock in Emden since early November (don't ask! It's a long story). I'd love to get a 991.2 GT3RS (in Chalk, of course). I have an allocation for a 992 GT3RS, but I'm hesitating. I love to drive these cars and no frunk (plus no Chalk, even PTS) is an issue.

No doubt the GT3RS. I have a "plain ole" GT3 but have driven in both of these. Both are absolutely great but to me, the GT3RS has a presence even when sitting still. And let's face it, these cars spend way more time sitting still than shifting at 9000.

I have a fellow track ***** who actually has both, and drives both on the track. For track duty, he prefers the 4RS. More "intuitive", he says. However, to me a 911 is still a 911, and a 718 is still just a 718. For both street and track, it's the 911 GT3RS for me. Love that color on the 4RS, though.

The GT3RS. Love the color, , and I don't fit in the GT4S!

GT3RS - because it's a Porsche 911. I love the cayman in general and they are great to drive. GT4 RS on track probably just about perfect. I am tall and never quite fit with a helmet on in any cayman so for me this is the deal-breaker. Performance wise it's got to be about even with the difference being things like the driver and tires.

ragerard - if you are in that position get the new RS for sure! So many of us will never have that chance. The new GT3RS seems like a strange departure like it's finally too extreme for the street and a practical person would have a 991.2RS and a cup car separately. But practical means nothing in the world of sports cars if you can own many.

While there is already a compelling successor to the 991.2 GT3 RS... the next step for the 718 platform is electrification. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS will probably go down in history; it's the end of the line. If I had to pick one, it'd be the 4RS.

That said, the 922 is rather clinical—almost sterile. Maybe posterity will prefer the 991.2 3RS over it.

They're both amazing, nonetheless.

3RS all day it’s quicker around track and I think it looks better too. The 4RS also doesn’t have RAS. The 4RS does sound tremendous due to the induction noises and personally I like the swan neck wing.

Default RS

I’m somewhat biased, but the 3RS will always be a 3RS no matter what generation. It’s presence and significance are unmatched imo.

I owned a 1.2 3rs and it is an amazing car. I'm not going after either at this moment but if you gave me a choice today: 4rs. It's such a unique car. Probably nothing quite like it before or after. It is definitely a significant car.

None of that takes away from 1.2-3rs and I know I'm on the 991 GT sub-forum. And it's probably unfair because I've already owned a 1.2-3rs. But 4rs seems like a wild animal which is becoming more and more rare over time and especially from Porsche. Porsche usually err's on side of well-mannered; that thing is a hooligan!

Ive tried following a 3RSMR around the 'Ring in a 4RS ... 3RS (MR) is the better car - 4RS rear suspension lets it down on a bumpy track.

Cayman is a compromised car. E diff, suspension, aero, downforce all are a notch or two below the GT3RS. It makes a cool sound but I dont think you can tolerate the sound for very long. Also lack of RWS does show itself, GT3s in general change direction much sharper.
