buying a '14 GT3

buying a '14 GT3
I'm considering a '14 with 16k miles. The owner says the engine was done at 500 miles. CA gave it a branded title. Here's a pic of the decal. The E1 indicates the replacement engine, correct? I assume the warranty is done by '24 even with the low miles? What are your thoughts? Prices are still inflated IMHO.

Unless this was a huge discount I would be walking IMO.

Love mine…my expert Indy Porsche mechanic thinks those who purposefully want to do whatever to blow their engines before 2024 need a lobotomy

E1 is nothing more than an early run portside replacement. The correct engine came out after every last .1 GT3 crossed the assembly line, hence the branded title.
With that being said, these early engines typically tend to give up the ghost around 25-30k (with the proper amount of abuse). If you have a plan for letting it see a lot of sustained time between 8500-9000 then let it rip.
The goal is to get that non-G6 engine out of there on somebody else's dime, an E1 with 15,500 on it should have a head start for sure.
Personally, I'd hold out and find a G6-equipped car since they still don't seem to command any extra cost (yet) and walk away with the best deal in the market. But this one isn't it unless you're getting it for sub-100k with that title.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your feedback. It's a dealership asking 125,000. They've had the car for six months. They were happy to come down from 130,000 without me even asking. He wants to get rid of it real bad. I suppose if I can get him down to near 100,000 I could buy it and flog the life out of it. That warranty is just coming to an end really quick.

The dealer says the original dealer was forced to perform a Lemon Law Buyback which left this car with a branded title. Any car that was bought back by Porsche also shares this same title brand.

Why would an owner prefer to have a flawed engine that has a high failure rate and no warranty vs a new engine with an improved design and a low (very) failure rate? Some expert. Hope your mechanic is better with a wrench than he is with logic.

Hold out for a G6. You will be second guessing your decision if the engine hasn't gone in the next 18 months. Only a few bucks more for piece of mind is well worth it in my opinion.
