Default 991.2 GT3 manual transmission oil - confirmed part#

I confirmed the part number for the manual transmission oil with my dealership. I provided the VIN from my 2018 GT3 manual. Print out below. He also said he thought it was Mobil 1 PTX 75W90 if you want unbranded.

Oil part number is 00004330472

I also googled the part number and found a nhtsa document that confirms this. Porsche changed the oil at some point. The images are below and here is a link to that document.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10176839-0001.pdf

There are also 2 drain plugs. It uses the same plug for fill and drain.

Part number for the plug - 9G1-321-805-00

NOTE: it seems this cannot be ordered online and shipped. I tried 3 online Porsche dealerships. All contacted me to say the transmission oil cannot be shipped due to hazmat issue. I've now ordered it from my local dealer (for quite a bit more money).

Hi thanks, it would be great if you could share some diy pictures when you are doing it.

I just placed the order online. When I get the parts and I do it I will take photographs, possibly a video if I have time. I plan to replace the belt and bleed the brakes (endless RF650) at the same time.

Good info. 3 liters?

Are they sure about PTX? It’s listed as an alternative for 000-043-210-12.Regardless, Suncoast has PTX for $35.60 and 00004330472 for $33 so why bother?

I didn't ask the quantity, but I'm assuming based on every other car I've looked at that it's 3L.

As far as PTX, that's what he said it was, but I'm not 100% certain. I don't trust the claim enough to buy PTX instead. Part numbers he gave me were based on the VIN. That's the one I'm relying on. Plus that NHTSA document confirms it.

00004330472 is the current and updated oil per the NHTSA document. I'm not going to use the old part 00004321012 or it's alternatives.

The oil arrived at the dealership. And it is in fact Mobil Mobilube PTX FE 75W-80. I got them to double check and this is the right oil. They said 75w90 comes in 20L for $1200, but the single liters is 75W80.

EDIT- this oil is only API GL-4. From everything I've read it needs to be GL4/GL-5.

Ugh. I will be taking this back and just buying the PTX 75W-90 online.

So the oil in the manual trans is Mobilube PTX FE 75w-80? That's super interesting. IIRC, GL-4 means it’s suitable for manual trans with brass synchros, GL-5 is for diffs (no brass). Some oils can do both GL-4 & 5 like the regular PTX or the Spirax S5.

Wait, it says the PTX FE is for DCT (aka PDK) transmissions:

Is the 6-speed in the GT3 based on the PDK? I thought that was the 7-speed in the non-GT cars but correct me if I’m wrong please.

I think there is a glitch in Porsche's system at the dealership. The part number they have is correct. 00004330472. They have the oil in 20L in the PTX 75W90 spec. They ordered the part number from an Atlanta distribution center and the PTX FE 75W80 is what arrived. The PTX FE 75W80 is GL-4 only. The PTX 75W90 is GL-4 and GL-5. The PTX 75W90 is the correct oil. Do NOT use the PTX FE 75W80.

I called Suncoast and discussed it with them. They confirmed it is the PTX 75W90. My dealership said they couldn't get it in liters. Suncoast can and does have it available by the liter.

I haven't changed the fluid yet, but I will probably later this month after my next track event next week.

I went to my service department today to find out what the procedure is and they were actually very helpful. The service advisor went and checked with one of the techs. They looked over the procedure for 991.2 manual and said it states to warm up transmission before emptying the fluid. To then fill the fluid until it comes out the fill hole and insert the plug. Then to drive the car to operating temperature and then recheck and fill if needed until fluid comes out.

I'm getting ready to change my transmission oil on my gt3 touring, and was searching for the correct fluid. I assumed it would be the Mobil 1 Delvac SHC I've used in my past 996 and 997 GT3's, but see above the correct oil is the M1 PTX 75w-90.

What is the capacity of the transmission, and are they the replaceable aluminum drain plugs, or steel with crush washers?

What have you all found as far as an interval for the transmission oil? I've been changing in most of my cars every 2 years with the FL humidity, for my street cars. I used to do it every year, but that seemed excessive.

Was your oil level correct after driving the car and rechecking? I've always just started the transmission first, and filled, let it settle, recheck, and repeat as I'm doing other stuff on the car....

Thanks!

David

Hi any DIY pictures or video to help with this?
are they underside panels that need removal after the rear diffuser is taken off? I can't find any information on how to do this online.

The screw torque is 26 lbft, replace sealing rings. Capacity is actually 3.3 l. Looks like that plate in front of the diffuser needs to be removed.
