Default 991.2 GT3 vibration only at track or driven hard

My GT3 has an odd vibration. It is not wheel or otherwise speed related. It starts after a hard session and can be felt throughout the car and is obvious when holding the wheel. Passengers have not noticed it. There is nothing audible associated with it. Even at idling. It goes away once the car cools down to "street" operating temps.

I first noticed it last year. The dealer could not find anything.

Much appreciated if anyone has suggestions.

Thx

are you sure its not speed related, check that you have not lost any wheel/tire balance weights

Positive. You can feel it parked.

PARKED!

PDK or 6MT, how many miles?

a couple of thoughts:

- steering (electric system)
- 3rd radiator pump

My 991.2 has an engine vibration at between about 3800 and 4200 rpm. Most pronounced at 4000. The mirror vibrates and you can feel in the seat of your pants and steering wheel. Vibrates all the time whether driving hard or not. Dealer looked at it and said it was normal. It doesn’t seem to be changing at all, but drives me crazy.

Is your vibration similar?

OP says they can detect it while parked I doubt they are revving the engine beyond idle... if its temp related its "probably" something to do with the water cooling system and front radiators

Yes. Mine does it in park too. I took the engine up past idle to see if I could isolate to either a drivetrain or engine issue. Vibration is there whether driving or in park. I think it is present across a wider rpm range (even at idle), but not pronounced until the engine hits more of a natural frequency at 4k.

Dealer says it’s normal but a bit more pronounced in my car. They can feel it and it is documented. I’m just trying to gauge whether it’s normal or not by asking if anyone else has similar issue.

I know a Porsche tech at a different dealer. Whenever he gets a Gt3 in, he checks for same vibration. He says it’s there in many cars, but barely noticeable unless specifically looking for it.

one thought - some people have reported vibrations transmitted through the shifter cables ...

PDK. 38000kms.

Good thought. Of course the dealer won't do anything as there is no code.
