I would say they're not targeting oem cars, but just the people who think it's fun to run straight pipes or crazy loud exhaust and like to rev it in commercial / residential areas. Some of these exotics are louder that F1 cars. People need to use some common sense.

It’s a sound meter, and it will just pick up the decibels at a certain range regardless of car. My guess it will not get off the ground crazy Governor postering ….

In the meantime, California residents will be making the switch over to the high-pitched hum of electric power anyway.

That's nuts. Plenty of OEM exhausts (cars and bikes) which will easily surpass these limits. And WTF is "traffic calming infrastructure"?
Took the family to southern CA (Newport Beach area) and visited some friends in Irvine + LA during spring break last month. Between cost of real estate ("standard" 3000 sq ft spec home on a tiny lot crammed into a subdivision full of nearly identical homes in Irvine in a good school district $2-2.5M, even more for my buddy in LA) + ridiculous income taxes + gas prices + politics + crime + homelessness +++ -> it boggled my mind why anyone who's not independently wealthy would move there. Santa Monica? There were more homeless people than residents or tourists walking around. My kids thought the homeless with shopping carts worked for the city picking up garbage- serious.
Sorry for bashing CA, but I've become more intolerant to bad politics, bad policy, corruption, money grabs, and big government with age. This intolerance has been accelerating and I'm only 51, ugh.

I don’t live in Cali and absolutely have loved cars my entire life but the Dodge community on the East Coast is absolutely ridiculous. If the Dodge’s sound anything on the West Coast like they do here then you can blame them Lol.
Having said that I still think any legislation is asinine.
