Default Ro_Ja Boy's GT3 Thread

I like to do build threads for my cars as it lets me aggregate pictures of the process and have memories of it. Will update this thread as things change on the car.

Purchased my first Porsche on 3/25, this 2018 GT3 with the options I cared about most: Manual, Buckets and Front Axle Lift. Pictures from the for sale listing:

Received the car last Friday, 4/8.

First order of business was removing the graphics. I really didn't love the car upon receipt because the graphics threw it off so much (to me) visually, but once they were removed...it looked like a different car. The graphics protected the paint underneath though...pics of them gone and my helper who helped me pull the graphics off:

Yesterday I dropped it off to have the car from fenders to the back polished and ceramic coated. Going to have the front half of the car PPF re-done (hopefully this week):

Almost done at the PPF shop. PPF done, side windows done. Just the rear window needing to be removed and replaced with the clear “tint”.

Done with PPF and Air80 window film. I felt bad for the guy having to fight through the cage to get to the rear window.

$4K lighter after this week, but looks almost as good as new now. Really happy with the car. 👍

Super happy with how the car looks now.

Did a photoshoot yesterday now that the car is 90% to where I want it to be. Few things left aesthetically (Titan7 wheels and flip the front grills over). Will post more pics as those are completed.

Glad to see the decals gone. Seat inserts look fantastic.

Cool - looking forward to following along. I won't confuse your thread by dropping my pictures in but did something somewhat similar with my recently (3 weeks ago) purchased 991.2 GT3T which came with a lot of dark accents (wheels, CF mirror covers, window tint) and looked a bit sinister. I have removed the tint, swapped the wheels for silver colored BBS magnesium wheels, replaced the mirrors with body color (GT silver) versions, added pepita seat inserts and swapped exhaust to stock. It now looks as close to a base Carrera as I can get it...

Sounds like similar style. The car has JCR silenced race pipe exhaust on it. I expected it to be louder than it is and will keep it.

Wheels will be replaced with silver wheels as soon as they are back in stock.

Hmmm...tint place called and said they couldn't remove the tint because of the roll bar.

edit: they couldn’t get access to get behind the bucket seats. Do I need to remove the passenger seat to get back there?

This is why I'm not adding tint to mine. You would need to remove the roll bar to do the job right. So yes, remove passenger seat and roll bar and you should be good to go. Good luck! Love the car!

I’m not going to bother with the rollbar. If they can’t get the clear tint in with the roll bar in, I’ll just have the tint removed and run tint-less. Don’t like the dark windows and plan to (mostly) just drive the car on nice days.

Looking great, man. Happy for you! Looking forward to following your ownership experience. I'm still in disbelief that the prior owner kept the decals on, even after putting it up for auction. Looks SO MUCH better already.

IMO visible tint is not a nice look... When I was young and dumb, I had my car tinted with visible tint and my dad called me out on making my car look like a drug dealers'... He was right, I got the (expensive to me at the time) tint removed and have never put tint on since (and have had it removed from a few used car purchases as first order of business). Just one guy's opinion - I know some will disagree.

Thanks for saving this car restoring it back to something that is more pleasing to the eye.
