Default Breaking in a new .1 engine

Just got my .1 back with a new engine and just read the break in instructions from the manual below. Can’t believe I have to put 2k more miles on the car before I can track it again. Any of you who also got a new engine done anything different?

Sounds right except the rev limit I would not rev it over 5k in the first 300-400 miles and than go up. Full rpm at least from 1k miles at upshifts. I would just not stress it on the track or on the Autobahn

Take a fun weekend road trip? I did the Twisters Sisters route over a weekend when I got my G6 engine. Takes a nice chunk out of the break in process and you won't need to rev it out to have fun.

You can do a search on this forum and you will see extremes of opinion, from just make sure the engine is fully warmed and go for it, to following the manual religiously. IMO, the 2000 mile threshold is for the completely new car, where the whole car, transmission, suspension, etc, and not just the engine needs to be broken in. If it were me and just had the engine replaced, so i would be a little paranoid and OCD about it. I would take long trips on back roads, go up and down the rpm range frequently, doesn’t matter what gear as it is only the engine that needs breaking in.

They told me 600 miles before heading to the track. Dealers have varying opinions on break in.

Thanks everyone!

Twisted Sisters is definitely on the list.

I’ve got to get the Hoosiers swapped out for road tires before venturing out.

I guess I shouldn’t complain. The total invoice for engine and labor was like $93k, but Porsche gives a $25k rebate when you send back the old engine. Warranty covered 100% of the $68k cost. Amazing!

2000 miles when trying is pretty easy to do. Enjoy the break in, then try to break it again on the track

I did 400-500 break in miles. Then pounded it on track right after. It's had multiple track days since then and I have become known as "rocket engine" at COTA. Often 3-5 mph faster than other GT3's on track.

the engine comes pre broken in by the manufacture from what i was told by my dealer. They just told me to take it easy for first few hundred miles before getting on it.
