Default Exhaust Too Loud Cold Start

Hello,

I have a 991.2 GT3 with the Soul full exhaust. Sometimes I leave for driving in the canyons early in the morning and the car's cold start is extremely loud. Is there any way for the cold start to be a little quieter without tuning the vehicle? I have also seen people create sound deadening canisters for the exhaust tips or putting pool noodles temporarily in the exhaust until cold start dies down. Would temporarily putting pool noodles in the exhaust have any adverse effects on the engine?

Thank You!

I don't think anything can be done . I guess you can slap on a set of silenced tips then change it out when your away or something .
On the pool noodles , i am sure you are joking ! :-))

Half of a can in each tailpipe the night before should do the trick.

As to the pool noodles, IC engines are essentially air pumps so yeah stopping up the exhaust is a big no no.

Funny, one of the biggest things I miss about my C63 BS is the cold startups. GT3s are quiet in comparison (even with a aftermarket exhaust)

Same struggles here. I have the same exhaust. I like to go to Peet’s for a coffee run early in the morning on weekends like today and I live in a cul de sac surrounded by Teslas and a Honda Civic close by that sounds off if I get too loud. I don’t have any solutions yet.

the car deliberately opens the PSE bypass at startup to reduce engine back pressure - you *may* be able obtain an aftermarket valve controller that would override the ECU - but the car does this for a good reason!

the only alternative are turndown tips - Soul have some nice ones ...

other option is put side mufflers back on, or if they are straight through side deletes find some valved side pipes...on startup valves open then immediately close....will quiet it down a lot. If it is a valved setup then 1 of 3 choices: 1. Side mufflers back on, 2. Center muffler back on with the soul side deletes, 3. go back to full stock exhaust setup.

Very simple. Add resonators or mufflers.
