Initially shopped .2's because of the 4.0, but ended up buying a 15 7k mile PTS .1. Two biggest reasons were the looks. I think the 991.1 looks much better, really a timeless design IMO. The .2 is still obviously beautiful, but it's not even close to the .1 in cohesive design flow. Didn't care for the .2 "sharky" front end and black plastics bits. The other big reason is the price delta. ~$50k not worth it IMO, for 50k I could buy a G6 motor myself.

My .1 has 3.5 years of factory engine warranty remaining, which is basically a new 4 year factory warranty and the drive is more raw/engaging and just special. Love all the mechanical noises and rumbles. I also think the scream from 8-9 in the .1 is just more visceral. They both scream like no other, but the .1 gets the nod in my book. I think the noticeably louder induction noise in .2 somewhat detracts or muddles the mechanical cescendo that is better in the .1. The .2 is noticeably more refined, but the .2 tire/road noise is MUCH louder, which I didn't care for. I also actually appreciate the low tech of the .1 vs. .2, makes it feel more classic/special. YMMV.
Thanks for the feedback! I think i'd be happy with a PTS.1 GT3, a .2 manual GT3 in an interesting color, or a .1 GT3RS in ultraviolet or lava orange. Not too particular at the moment.

I strongly considered an RS green .1 GT3 with CPO warranty in Tennessee before Christmas but decided i didn't want to pay $150k for it for a color i kind of liked but wasn't in love with. If it was gelbgrun, though.....that would've been in my garage.

Still waiting for a forum member to somehow PM me out of nowhere offering a PTS .1 or .2 or maybe an ultraviolet.

My friend bought that RS Green GT3 in Knoxville three days after he test drove my GT3

You will be very happy with a .1. Get it done

Ha! I tried to buy that car… then it sold … then it didn't. But very happy with the 991.2 I ended up with.

I see your avatar. You bought the GT3 from the Toy Barn in Ohio, didn't you?? =)

Car in the pic looks like a 997 GT3.

Also, you're okay with either PDK or manual? Truly no preference? You mention above being open to a .2 manual.

Oh wait....it's probably an old picture. I see he crossed off his 997 GT3 and doesn't own it anymore.

Which one did you get, technoviro? What do you think of the .2?

I was originally going .2 manual if i went .2 but i'm starting to soften a little considering I'm also thinking about a .1 GT3RS. Haven't really decided. There's a local guy in autocross that is really smug and uses the PDK and torque vectoring to cover up for his lack of driving skill. I can see an argument for me getting a PDK to kick his *** =) All depends on if the right car falls to me. I think i'll know when it hits me and i'm really hoping it is from a rennlister. I'd rather avoid dealerships if i can considering how awful they have been during this search so far.

If money is no object sure the .2 is the answer. But people that have upgraded....would you do it again based on the current price difference?
I’ve owned both and actually prefer the .1 - the .1 reliability is a real issue though. Mine incurred over $55,000 in repairs (covered by warranty.)

What year was yours? Was that on the original engine or replacement one?

Fair enough. I think having flexibility will be helpful in your search. I think knowing myself, I am open to most options and can see the pros/cons to PCCB vs. iron, LWB vs. sofas, wing to no wing but I think I am adamant I want a manual. Probably need to drive a GT3 with PDK though firsthand to actually know. Thankfully PEC has that available.

it actually had no relation to engine, my engine never had an issue lol. The bulk of the repair fee was a transmission replacement.

Mine was a 2015.

That was covered under the powertrain warranty though, correct? Did they change the transmission for the .2? I figured it was the same transmission.

I own and love my .1, but I'm curious why you prefer the .1 over the .2.

This one: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...i-suppose.html

I love it. A lot less skittish at speed vs the 997 over our terrible roads in western PA, engine is amazing, happy with how the PDK performs (totally different than a non-GT), and the FAL gets me driving the car more. I couldn't get the 997 in and out of the garage without ramps, so I didn't drive it much at all.

I do wish it was green, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yes, as stated, the warranty covered it. The .2 didn’t exist at this stage but it likely would’ve been different given that the engines were different.

Honestly, it probably boils down to the fact that I saved for years to buy the .1, it was my first fast car, it was my dream car and my head was exploding at how cool it was. Now, over the years of being fortunate enough to buy other versions, the new ones aren’t boring… but you always sensationalize your first.
