What is the difference between the two? Which one is better?

Also ceratec and mos2… there is no approval by porsche for them, does this mean they shouldnt be used?

M1 0W40. Street driving. Not particularly hard driving.

Then thats pretty normal results (and not in a good way). Only 2000 miles on that oil and if you are not driving it hard the oil should have a looked better.

My car sees probably 2-3 redlines every few miles. Its not tracked but I never keep it below 4,000 even if I have to coast in 2nd gear to stay under the speed limit.

4100 looks like it is used in diesel engines as well. Not sure if this is appropriate for the gt3.

Anyone used Pennzoil euro 5w40 made from natural gas? It’s A40 approved. I’m using it on my other cars, curious if anyone has experience on the GT3/RS or have a UOA?

How can it look ‘better’ if the viscosity is in spec?

It is borderline in spec and your oil only has 2000 miles. The viscosity at that mileage in my C7 ZR1 (2500 miles to be exact) was 12.9 and that car runs much hotter than the GT3 (800 hp/720 ftlbs) - both cars use the same 0w40 Mobil1. I think GT3 just shears the oil much quicker because of the tight tolerances and compression ratio it runs.

Motul, as good as it is, is fairly known for shearing quite easily as well. Only oil that I know that can handle heat without barely a change is Redline. Wonderful simple oil that just works. 5w50 is pretty much perfect for twin turbo/hot v/100c thermostats, spec (flow mostly) wise is very similar to 5w40 but it's ridiculous the ammount of stress and heat it can handle.

It is A40 suitable at least... the professional series I think it's approved. But it's a lesser oil.

I just got my 3rd report on this car. Went longer then normal because I had fewer track days overall. FWIW.

I see what you mean. It would be interesting to have a new oil sample from the same bottle sitting on the shelf as a control group to show that the viscosity does indeed drop. I’ve long felt that the OCI in this car is WAY too long for the kind of driving these cars often see. I think I will stick to yearly oil changes at a similar 3,500 km OCI to help reduce the chance that the viscosity goes too low. Would be nice to have other people chime in with their results too.
