Better oil than the Mobile 1 seems to be Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 change every 3-5K for peace of mind

Also warming up the engine, who knows if the guys with damaged engines let their car warm up before flooring it. Too many variables.

About 20k would be my guess. Mine went at 22.7k I would be looking for a car with a G6 already installed.

I’ve been told by my mechanic, and now watched some of Jake Raby’s videos, where he says NOT to spend excessive warm up time
Unless you mean before driving it at 9k or tracking?

That sounds like good advice... but I suspect the market is limited. That's why it would be good to know what fraction of the 14-16 model years have had the motor replaced, and the fraction that have had top-end rebuilds. My guess is that the percentage is quite small as there are likely a lot of garage queens that haven't seen significant time between 7 and 9K.

Here's a twist to your strategy, make it your job to kill your original engine and bask in deal you just got on a forever car.

It's a great feeling to get it out on track and experience that noise and everything the car was built to be, meanwhile being at your financial benefit. Not to mention, everything attached to that engine is brand new... Every last sensor, seal, accessory, belt, etc. You're back to mile zero on all of them. IMO, the value proposition is extremely high if you truly intend to use it.

Good news is that time is on your side, for now.

Unfortunately, I rarely see .1's being advertised as having G6 replacements. It's such a nuanced topic that I could understand why a dealer may not want to touch it - I really only ever see it on private party listings. Maybe buy lunch for an SA at Porsche and have them run VIN's for you?

I do feel they will drop a bit once the factory warranty goes out. But some of us also purchased an additional Porsche warranty on the whole car that goes till 2031 for me.

They all do this, they go up, then they go down when the "new" one comes out, then everyone gets over the new one, and the old ones start to go up in price again. Look at the 997's, they are holding strong.
IMHO, these will almost never be in the $70-80k price range, they are just so good and so reliable. NO other Gt3 has had a 10yr warranty, so I don't understand why people are so scared about it! You are more likely to have the coolant lines fail (older GT3's) then have an engine fail. This is so becoming the "IMS" bearing. Yes it's a concern, but it's not the be all end all.

Drive it, don't worry about it, and enjoy.

I have had EasyCare TotalCare on several cars, Porsche and M Cars, and they pay as needed:

Take a look at the 991.1 GT3RS as they are priced similar to the 991.2 GT3.
