Extended auto warranties
What’s everyone’s opinion on extended auto warranties. I have a 2014 GT3 with 38k miles. Found a reputable company, Total Auto Protect. They have good reviews online.
Bumper to bumper 62 months/39,500miles with $250 deductible for $7,200.
I’m thinking of doing it but I figured I’d see what everyone thinks.

$116 a month not to stress about what could break, piece of mind alone man. Is it refundable? Just bought a 2019 gt3 and it was $4k to add 2 years and 40k miles to the oem vs $4k to get CPOed. Went with the refundable incase I want to sell the car or if I find a better deal.

I bought the Porsche warranty when I took delivery of my GT3. Figured it's getting used on track so higher use than a normal street driven car. Was able to negotiate price at that time as well.

wow 7200! thats where they get you, buying the warrany when already mileage on the car. when you buy them when the car is new they are significantly cheaper.
i am in the camp of put that 7200 aside for if/when something goes wrong...

I had a C4S bought new that went up to 76K miles before I traded it in for the GT3. I did not get the extended warranty then and do not plan on getting it for the GT3 either. Even the factory warranty has so many caveats I shudder to think what the non- factory extended warranties may decide is not included. I’d rather save the money for use if and when I’d need it.

Late last year when I pierced up my 16 GT3, I purchased an extended Porsche warranty with a $100 deductible it was 10/100kmi for like $5000.
I was told it was cheaper due to Porsche already warranting the engine.

I had an Easy Care policy on my 996 GT3. I bought the car used with about 24k miles on it, and it still had a little bit of the original warranty left. It cost about $2-3k IIRC. Over the years, I'm sure they paid for $25-30k repairs, all wear related or known flaws that raised their ugly heads, like LSD, fuel pump, valve in gas fill tube, bearings, power steering hoses, etc.
