PEC car with a replaced engine for MSRP? That sounds...nuts. Unless its a 1 of 1, your only spec, and a forever car...

I wouldn’t do it unless a significant discount. As mentioned above, there will most likely be wear on drivetrain and PCCB, so even if within parameters, accelerated wear, and the in-service date was in 2019, so a year down on the warranty. Never titled, so no CPO. There are enough tourings out there especially at around MSRP. I’d pick one of those any day.

I normally say “buy a deal, sell a deal”

Except this isn’t even remotely close to a deal, I don’t care if it’s missing 8 wings.

Why? I had a 991.1 GT3 with replacement engine and it was perfect. I'd rather have a 5k mile replacement engine on a 40k mile car than a 40k mile original engine on a 40k mile car...

Possibly advanced transmission and suspension wear due to the hard miles as well. Gotta be the right price...

I drove this car at PEC when it had about 800mi. I wouldn't buy it at that price, but everything has a price. The replacement engine doesn't bother me so much, but I'd be concerned about other stuff like transmission, wheel hubs, etc which isn't covered under CPO or normal warranty. Those be wear/tear items.

I'd have to be at least 10-15k under MSRP to even think about it.

Wait.

$15k over MSRP. For a car that's been flogged to death at PEC LA. So $15k over for a USED Touring, that's been subject to countless laps at the hands of ham fisted amateur drivers who paid to beat the snot out of someone else's car? $15k over?

What am I missing here? This is not a 911 R or a Speedster.

I would not do it. You will find another GT3/Touring. No sense in chasing it.

Let a car come to you and it will.

Yes- Manuals are holding good value and many potential Buyers lurking. The 992 is still a little time away and pricing will certainly be much higher than the .2 based on where the new GT4 was priced over previous model.

I just sold my .2 - 2 weeks ago and there was a lot of interest from all parts of the US- including other Dealers.

They paid to drive a GT3 and not worry about it....it wasn't someone else's car.....it was Porsche's car.....what happens to the car after or if it breaks isn't the participants problem or concern.....

You're making the same point that I am. It's not their problem so they do not care about treating the cars in a good manner. These are not the kind of cars that I would want to buy, they've not been treated well. I've been to these kinds of events and spoken to the people that run them. The cars are maintained for sure, but definitely run very hard.

I totally disagree. I also purchased a 2014 GT3 with a replacement engine that came with the 10yr extended 100k mile warranty and the car was flawless. I still think those 14 GT3 models with the extended warranty are a great value right now.
