Has anyone identified a way to stop or slow tire creep (tire moving on the rim)? I drive my 991.2 GT3 on track. Stock Porsche wheels with R7 Hoosiers. Tire creep may be as much 90 to 180 degrees around wheel after one or two 30 minute sessions. I mark my valve stems to track movement. The greatest movement is on left rear tire. Typical inflation is 26-28 psi cold, 38-40 hot.

I imagine the media blasting involves the area of the rim that has binding contact with the rubber.

Ive heard this is a big issue with the Hoosiers, to the point many wont run them. Speak to some of the larger shops,

Every tire I've ever raced moves on the rim to some extent. Often the acceleration forces and the braking forces "even out" and it does not move that far. Hairspray to mount the tire (vs the normal lube) and media blasting the rims (my Viper ACR has knurling in the rims) does help. You can also balance the wheel without the tire so that even when it moves, the vibrations are less problematic.

Tell your tire install shop not to use soap and listen to them cry about mounting them...

There is a lubricant that Michelin uses to mount motorsport tires that then changes to a glue type bead after initially being a lubricant. Pretty trick.

Assuming the tire isn't "free wheeling", I would imagine the only real issue is the wheel/tire assembly getting out of balance.

if your tires aren't moving you need to drive harder and faster on the track :-)
wheels like HRE you can order with knurling, supposedly helps
The e88 wheels I run on my antiques have a pretty rough surface and I don't get that much movement

you can also not go too hard until tires up to temp, wait a lap before giving it the beans
unless you're feeling a balance issue not much to worry about

Besides overall ****ty tire, that was another reason I gave up on Hoosier. Don't bother balancing.
Go with proper made slick, safer and cheaper and faster.

The new Dunlops Sport Maxx 2 are very close in lap time on stock wheels, but the real speed comes from more adjustability to rake with 19"

You got that right. I have talked to folks that have tried all BS remedies, if you get a bad tire(s), nothing is stopping it from moving on the wheel. It is an R7 issue.

If the tire creeps enough it will defeat the tire balancing when mounted. You will experience a mild to violent vibration at high speed.
