Anyone regret getting 18 way instead of buckets?

In a word, No. I buy cars for myself and my needs, not for the next guy. The buckets look great and clearly have the required “street credentials”, but they are not race seats. The LWB are not uncomfortable once you are ensconced, but they are challenging to get in and out of, and the lack of adjustable rake is a real issue if you have any back/neck issues. The 4 way and 18 way are not “sofas” and provide adequate support for the occasional track event and more than sufficient support for DD duties. The GT car 18 ways do not have a position memory which makes no real sense, but that’s Porsche’s way of telling the world that’s how a fully electric seat is done for a GT3 or RS. Try all the seats and find what’s best for you and your SO if that’s a requirement.

I will probably have a .2 RS coming to me in the next week or two that has buckets. I might be interested in trading my LWBs for some 18 ways and $8K if someone is interested. My LWBs will have Weissach logo on the headrest. Stiching color is silver I think. Will also have a GMG roll cage and harnesses for sale. I'd be interested in swapping rear carpets too so that I can have some without holes in them, and whoever gets the cage would have carpet that already has holes cut. If you are in the LA area or Houston area it would be of even more interest to me. Thanks.

While the resale market is smaller for 18 ways in an RS, their availability is likewise small (but determined). The three most recent 18 way .2 RS sales in the past month have all been at or above what the LWB sales have been.

I think the main point is that the car will have been altered. LWB on sticker/build-sheet, but not in the car... Leaves one wondering "what else has been modified?"

Not a believer of the “18 ways are great, until you go to sell” thing. I looked for months and months for a used gt3.2 and it’s practically impossible to get the perfect spec unless you want to pay 170k+ right now for one which in my opinion is a horrible financial decision. Buckets ceramics leds and lift were a must for me until I realized it’s just so difficult to find this combo paired with a 1 owner and low miles.

I just sold my RS....not having buckets killed it for most serious buyers....

Honestly, people should just get what they like better and what works for them. Forget about resale. I’m not going to sit here and type something to convince people to get buckets. I can tell you this is almost a non issue in Europe from personal experience. I’d like to see the actual data though - % of GT3/RS sold with buckets Europe vs USA. I bet the numbers would be different with statistical significance. In my opinion, the GT car must have buckets. It heightens the driving experience, car was designed for those seats, I love the way they look and feel, and I don’t find them uncomfortable. In fact the regular seats in my previous GTS cab and C4S hurt my back more. There are those who really find the LWB uncomfortable and their back hurts. I get it. To say that those people should not get a GT car then is absurd. A GT3 with sofas is still better than non GT car. Screw stats. Screw resale. Stop these LWB vs Sofa threads. LWB FTW!

Any Porsche seat is going to be nice.
My 997.2 GT3 was spec'ed with PCCBs - the most expensive brakes and the least expensive seats.
Guess what? Both are great!
PS - I spec'ed the next 3 GT cars with LWBs though....

Zero regret going with 18-ways in any of my cars. Zip. Zilch. Nada. It’s something I spec if buying new and at the top of my priority list if buying used.
The LWBs don’t work for me because I use my cars on a daily basis (as well as track days and autocross). And the LWBs don’t particularly work for my body type anyway. But for a track only car I would absolutely positively shoot for LWBs. The LWBs are extraordinary for the track/autocross experience.

I agree it narrows your market, but I'm not convinced it lowers your resale. Those of us that want 18 ways in an RS will pay for them. I concur with Kyrocks and djcxxx that you should buy a car for yourself, not someone else. That being said, you should buy it at the right price so you don't lose your rear end on resale regardless of the seats!

I had the 18 way in my previous 997.1 TT, best seats on the planet but when I bought my GT car the 918 CF seats were a must have. After taking a few rides to figure out how to get in and out without scraping the bolsters or the door sills I absolutely love them. Must have for me in a GT car. It might help that I am F1 driver sized...5'8" 148 lbs. but I can still naked squat 225 lbs 6 times.

Unlike LWB, Porsche does not sell sofas as an assembled item. You have to buy all the parts and then pay someone for assembly.

I am sure those that decided to go with sofas don’t regret it. That’s why it’s nice to have options and it opens these cars perhaps to a larger market. I loved Eric’s lava GT3RS but I didn’t want sofas and I wasn’t going to try to make a low ball offer to make me feel better about the purchase.
I don’t DD mine so they were a must have. After hours of driving I feel completely fine in them, no issues at all. I found my previous 993 (C4S), 996 (C4S) and 997 (GTS & TT) ‘comfort’ seats to be uncomfortable in the sense that when I would do some spirited driving, my lower back would ache from trying to stay in the seat. There was little upper back support in sofas for me whereas the buckets keep me locked in so I can relax.
All this said, for the record, the most comfortable seats I’ve ever experienced were in both my 1993 500e and my 2003 530i sport!

My Benzes and Jeep have "sofas" in them. (And I'm glad they do!)
LWBs were just immediately uncomfortable to me. And my better half flatly refused to do the limbo in order to even try sitting in one.
