C&D G.O.A.T. = 991.2 GT3, not 911R

Really doesn't matter to me - I think GT3 performance off the track has reached a point of diminishing returns.

No, we are safe with the 992 generation on NA.
I literally just read the internal German product info on the upcoming GT4RS and "other variants." Fun times ahead!

Every generation (996 to 997, 997 to 991) Porsche has upped the price and it will be no different this time. What did you expect otherwise?
But since Porsche is under tremendous competitions in this 992 generation, it has forced Porsche to up its game on the performance front by quite a bit.

The 992 GT3 has to be better than its predecessor in any or all parameters or there would be no justification for its existence beyond selling a new body style. A major leap in performance, rather than an incremental step, may also be accompanied by a proportional increase in price. Perhaps the cleaning ladies are not interested in that sort of scuttlebut?

If Porsche reels me in for a 992 from a 991.2 I will be very surprised. I am not on any waiting list and have no deposit down this time. More LCD screens and more HP isn’t what I’m looking for. I wish them the best but they lost me a little bit lately.

Agreed 100%.
If we are looking at the entire history of Porsche cars, none of those cars listed by Car and Driver would be on my list, not even close. Porsche made too many GOAT cars in my opinion. My lists would include (but not limited to): 964RS, 993 GT2, Carrera GT, 74 RS 3.0, etc.....
2013 Boxster/Cayman or 1978 928? Are you kidding me?!

That would mean the turbo s and gt3 share the same wheel and tire dimensions. There’s only 3 tire choices for that fitment at the moment. In the link below it’s clearly fitted with cup 2’s. If you swipe to second clip wheels also look staggered. Unless they’re making a new cup 2 size. I believe it will have same dimensions as current RS. Would be a total bummer if it didn’t. I wouldn’t even consider the car if that holds true.

If money / space / spousal approval were non-issues, most would agree the 911R, CGT, 918, 3RS, etc are superior to any of the Porsche’s on C&Ds list. But one could argue the 991.2 GT3 is be the best daily drivable, semi-affordable, non limited edition Porsche ever which still gives you 95% of the feedback and excitement of the absolute GOATs...and for me that is enough...at long last the upgrade itch has subsided...for now

^^^I sold my 991.2 gt3 and kept some other things. But I would agree that the 991.2 manual3 clubsport I owned in UK was the ultimate Swiss Army knife car I’ve ever owned. Track beast, daily driver, back-road cruiser, fully manual or cheater-mode to keep up with pdk beasts, giant killer, Apple CarPlay, Bose, factory cage and harness. It didn’t do anything “the best” but it did EVERYTHING well. So, of any cars I’ve ever owned, 981 spyder and 991.2 gt3 manual clubsport were the most versatile fun-cars I’ve ever owned by miles. The spyder being tilted more towards street (suspension, power and top) and 991 more towards track. 991.2-3-manual (esp where u can get CS option row) it’s Porsches best all-in-one GT they’ve ever done. I suspect that trend will continue with 992 and already has with 718. That versatility comes at one primary compromise: fun. It lacks some feel and fun-factor and comes off a little sterile. But it took a LOT of time behind the wheel before that caused it to get sold to keep other stuff that was less versatile but more fun.

I’ll say it again, the 992 GT3 will be so good you’ll all want it. LCD screens and all. Think faster, more feel in steering and handling, better everyday live-ability. And king of the track performance for a little while. Yep our GT3’s will suddenly be cute throwbacks.
And don’t expect to see the 991.2 GT3 on any GOAT list five years from now.
Those that don’t Upgrade will eventually sell their 991.2 GT3’s and buy something older for that old timey feel. Happens with every new GT3.
