Thought I read somewhere that the .1RS was the loudest decibel tested by R&T.

Thanks
Straight from the factory..

Different microphones, I know but that’s the change.

Note .2RS 8! Secs faster.
Another reason to get .1RS is that they come in purple.

Hearing your LG .2 rev and click off those shifts brings back recent fond memories of my departing RY .2. Mine is in "deposit" status and on the way to someone else as I write this. Your clip is making me regret it! But damn, I gotta admit, that car made me pucker some at the speed it carries on circuit as a 3 pt belt street car. It was too fast for my skills to feel comfy in a street car. I'm back to a "slow" 997 occasionally on track and probably hunting for a dedicated track car next season. But just hearing 10 secs of it reminded me how alive and insanely capable that beast is. My first lap around Leipzig, I was surprised how much more aggressive the car felt compared to my old UV .1. The .2 is angry. I think it's the first time in gt/rs history that the newer car got more visceral/raw than the out-going model.

Realistically, and I’ve spent a lot of time on track-I literally just got home from the track.

Please take this advice:

Buy a 991.1 RS and spend $20-30k on good quality high level coaching

you will be faster than guys in their .2s and have a skill set for life that is yours to keep no matter what car you take on track.

No amount of car overcomes coaching and track time.

realistic your 997 RS 4.0 (if you push it) isn’t that much slower than a 991RS

/ignore my comments if looking for a track only car comparison/

For what it’s worth, here are my views as a new .1 RS owner. I have not driven a .2 but have had many street focused tuned/fast cars. Have not tracked, but I will defer view to those that have. This is more of a day to day drivers perspective.

- car is plenty fast and way too capable to push limits on the street
- .1 louder than most other cars in stock form; I’d still want to make it sound a bit more loud but not in poor taste or classless
- engine sound is intoxicating, particularly >5k rpm to redline (lower in .1 but do you really care unless you’re trying to beat your PB or other lap times professionally?)
- rough enough to be an event to drive but definitely far from intolerable; buckets take some effort to get used to (ed protectors on order!)
- great potential to get a deal on a cpo .1 while looking to get into a .2 , 2RS or 992 and drive a great car in interim or hold
- both .1 and .2 are iconic and general hawking people can’t tell the difference but recognize it’s more than a regular “911” whatever that means
- don’t buy either model to impress people, only enthusiasts and teenagers will be impressed but RS will turn heads (getting used to the attention)
- go for cpo in either case; can extend until vehicle is 10 yrs old from in service date for a couple grand per year
- track it and have fun!

while that's possible, you are on the edge of 997RS4.0 but you can still be texting and drinking latte in 991RS. I tried in both cars.

The 997 warns me along the way as I run out of talent. The 991 gets there so fast and effortlessly, I guess it goads me into getting to that edge? I think the 997 has limitations along the way that slow me down. 991 feels 100% unflappable until all of the sudden, it's not! At that point my talent/car relationship is pointed the wrong direction (maybe the car too?).

Anyway they are both great cars. One is slightly more fun to go 7/10's in and I'm better off staying in that area of 10th's. So its fun-zone and my talent level intersect better

Back OT.

Peter excellent driving very smooth both the .1 and .2 looked like excellent suspensions setups. Enjoyed watching you wide open in Eau Rouge.

Not everyone agrees with that that’s for sure. In fact most journalists pick the 3RS. Here’s one example. JWW is great.
