Default What to buy? GT3 or 911 50th?

So,
If you had the notion to buy a long-term (possible investment) newer model Porsche in the 100-150k range in the near future, what would be a solid choice?
I have "kind-of" narrowed it down to a high optioned GT3 (non RS) manual in a "great color" or a 50th Edition car.
GT2 and Speedster out of budget.

Thank you for your thoughts and input.

I would say buy the car that you will enjoy, and make you smile. When you think investment it will skew your thoughts, and it’s a car and when they rise in price it’s just luck. The math less 50th’s than GT3’s if you go that route.

Thanks, Maverick. I'm leaning towards the GT3 car. I haven't heard one complaint for any owners on the 991.2 cars

Both great cars! If a DD the 50th is good, but the GT3 is a very good car.

I like the 50th, but for some reason finding a good spec (manual, no sunroof) is hard. But I’d have a PTS gt3 for that price range. Actually, I’d get a 991.1 C2S cab with powerkit if I could find a special one. Or a 991.1 GTS cab.

I owned a manual 50th with power-kit, it was a fun and great car but it is nothing like a GT3. I upgraded from 50th to GT3 and never looked back and my GT3 was PDK. Considering yours is manual then def. go with the Gt3 manual!

How are you planning to use the car? Is this a weekend cruiser and limited track duty?

Between the two you're asking about I would choose the manual GT3. From what I have read here people really like their cars.

If I was looking for a weekend cruiser to compliment other cars and was most concerned about how my $150 would survive over the next 5-10 years I would look at older manual 911s.

I believe the 991 generation is still too new and only time will tell. Irregardless, they are awesome cars.

The 50th I've found is a sunroof car with full leather 18 way (no hounds-tooth) LEDs PASM. , . The GT3 is a manual PTS and PCCB.

Def. GT3 manual over 50th. My 50th was in manual with houndstooth, sunroof, power-kit and all the bells and whistles... after taking the GT3 for a test drive, i never thought again of the 50th

I was thinking similarly. Was seriously considering a Speedster, but ended up buying a Touring instead. Virtually same car, half the price, and I'm not even a little reluctant to drive it. All is good. It depends on whether you want to enjoy the car on the road, or hope for appreciation over time. Not mutually exclusive objectives!

GT3 by a huge margin. I had a 50th, didn’t keep it long. Really just a vanilla 911 with a few decorative bits and meh 7MT. But some guys just have to have a number plate. I care much more about performance. As for looks, they are subjective but no comparison there either—GT3 wins hands down.

Actually, cross-shopping a Speedster and GT3 Touring is much easier to understand.

PTS wing cars are great value. Even though I have one and maintain a registry of PTS tourings, the spread in the price is baffling to me and if I were buying now I would get a PTS GT3 wing car.

For all intents and purposes, I have both in my garage. My 991.1 is not a 50th but it is a GTS which is the same car, minus the number plate and interior bits.

If both are manual and it is a daily, then GT3 for sure. If you are looking for a more comfortable car that can be sporty but not THAT sporty, then go 50th. If you want the overall better car - much crisper steering, stiffer chassis (but not too stiff in the normal setting - about equal to the sport chassis setting in the 50th), far superior engine and just overall a far more engaging driving experience, then get the GT3. I have driven my GTS cab and GT3 Touring back to back on several occasions. The 991.1 GTS is an awesome car - the last, most powerful NA Carrera! - but it feels totally blah after driving the GT3.

Get the GT3.
