Any experience with Chicago Motor Cars?

I bought a 2013 BS with GTS like options, PDK, Sport Chrono, PASM, PTV and 18 way seats from them last Nov. I had already missed a similarly equipped car, so took the risk. The CARFAX showed a rear bumper collision while six months old. Had a local PPI done. The local Porsche dealer does not do PPIs. Drove the car from Chicago to Northern Virginia with no issue. While the front tires had tread one was the original and another almost as old. Replaced with two new P-zeros to match the rears which were relatively new. Have prepped the car for DEs, but with COVID no chance to run. A small detail, but I failed to test the second key fob which looked brand new. The other obviously original key fob colored matched the car. Got home and tested the second key fob, which didn't work. Discovered it had no battery. Worked fine with a new battery.
As already indicated they have a sorted past. They do a huge volume in high end cars, not just Porsche. The lawsuit involves the dad, who still works there and may actually run it. The current owner is the son. This is not their only business and would not surprise me if he was just the owner in name only. From my perspective they specialize in auction cars. There is one terrifying story where someone bought a car that had a questionable title. I called the son about his worthless theft insurance. The conversation in my mind confirmed the reputation they have. They do all the right things at the surface, but you are taking more than an average risk with any car you buy from them. Cars are at Chicago Motors for a reason. The BS was $40K from an auction with a accident CARFAX and I took the risk. There has to be a reason they have a GT3RS which I would want to know in detail. More than just the CARFAX. I know there a folks who can find the auction with the VIN.

So I texted him for PPI, he replied immediately saying of course, no problem.
Not disagreeing or disputing what is being said here but so far my personal experience with them has not been negative.

You have some pretty savvy dudes here trying to give you advice, but you seem intent on proceeding.
Carry on.

Good point. Many Porsche dealerships no longer do PPIs. The one closest to CMC is Napelton in Westmont. If Westmont won't do a PPI (or a used car inspection) call Mark Hill at Cars Plus in neighboring Darien. Mark knows Porsches, and builds & races Porsches with our local PCA and Club Racing group. Mark may even go to West Chicago to do the inspection. Ask him.

Do you have contact information for the shop you recommend?
I appreciate it.

I am sure it is exciting getting to this point in the purchase process and possibly a little deflating coming to terms with the feedback. The dealers read these threads just as easy as you do. It's your money and decision. This could be an awesome car. What is most important to you in the car. For example, the deal (price), condition, mileage, etc.
There are many members from the area on this forum. Maybe someone can help get eyes on it.

I live in Chicago - CMC has a reputation of being a bunch of crooks. Very few people are trustworthy within the organization.
Get a PPI - I have a buddy that owns his own shop, does alot of Porsche and BMW work. He took care of my M4 for 4 years. Alex at PerformanceEurowerks in Buffalo Grove.
