I bet the F4 stories are great. As a kid I loved the Phantom. Kiss *** fighter. Got me burning to go to Annapolis.

Yes the new GT3 will be more digital and many bemoan that me included.

I think it will be some time before it’s launched now due to the WW chit show the Chinese Commies brought to us.

So go enjoy your cars and count your blessings.

If you think you have the perfect car, perhaps switch your priorities from finding new buying experiences to finding more and new driving experiences.

For me, having driven more standard cars over the last 20 years, even the lowly 718 feels like a masterpiece of machinery. I know there are a lot of traditionalists who don't like the forced air 4cyl. I have driven the 981 6 as well. I gotta say, being a newb again, the 718 S is an impressive car. Maybe things have changed. Probably good for me that I didn't catch the bug until recently as I can enjoy the new stuff for what it is. Just a POV. FWIW I do a daily bike ride to get some sun and exercise and I pass both a Carrera S and a 911 Turbo S on my route -- both parked outside permanently from what I can tell. Beautiful cars -- maybe one day.

Having owned Porsches across platforms, the only thing I can say with a high degree of confidence is that Porsche WILL continue to create “forever cars” for its customers far into the future! I remember when the 993s were the forever cars (with the end of the air-cooled era), then I remember when the 997 RS were the forever cars (the 991 was deemed too big, too heavy, too compliant, not visceral enough...some even said its silhouette strayed too far from the iconic p-car), now the 991.2 GT3 is the forever car for quite a few! I love it, I won’t knock the 992 (until I try it) nor whatever comes next...but what I am certain of, is that Porsche will continue to develop drivers cars that we will love and I pray to be able to have one (or two) in my garage for as long as the good Lord will have me on this earth. We are blessed to be able to enjoy these incredible automobiles.

Wife and I went for a low key drive along the ocean in the GT3. I let her drive just so I could enjoy being out and about for a change. The drive gave me an opportunity to not only enjoy the scenery but to revel in the sound of that jewel of an engine and take in the totality of the automobile as a passenger. Can’t ask for more in a sports car that drives and sounds so magnificent, enormously capable, yet is able to just loaf along A1A. In such unsettled times owning a GT3 is one thing clearly not depressing!

As much as I love my 991.2 GT3T, I’d trade it in a heartbeat for a 993 GT2 or CTR2 (or my real dream car which is a 993 turbo cab or RUF 993 BTR cab). The end of aircooled 993 really was peak (to me — I know some prefer the 964, but I think that is appearance more than performance YMMV). The only issue is that the engines then were not that powerful normally aspirated (I know as I have a 993 C4 cab which I love so much). But the turbo cars, especially with the wick turned up and lightweight spec, are modern car fast. I really like the aircooled platform (probably why singer and guntherworks are so coveted as the new build aircooled engines have high HP). On the other hand, I find the 991.2 GT3 to be a better car than a 997 RS (but I have not driven a 4.0). I don’t know if I will feel that the 992 GT3 will be better than the 991.2 GT3 and that’s what has me thinking. Maybe there is room for one last great manual Porsche like a 4.2 RS or manual GT2RS something like that. I dunno.

It's a GREAT car but there are plenty of directions lateral or even up from it. That being said if you never owned any of those, you'd have nothing to complain about "settling" for a 991.2-3 manual

Indeed ! and interesting you mentioned this sentiment because I just had a conversation not too long ago with a good friend about life lessons.

As a late 50 something myself, I spent most of my 30's ,40's counting every nickel , living a nose to the grindstone existence while raising a family like many here did and or do . I sold my 914 and 911 back in 1992 when my daughter was born to basically set aside funds to be a good Dad.My wife bought new Toyota's and just buckled up.

I didn't get back into Porsche's and BMW's until she was in the 8th grade and count my blessings every day that she turned out to be an amazing kid. She's now a college Professor on a tenure track and completely off the payroll.

The last 5 yrs have been remarkable and has afforded my wife and I some nice things in life but I still don't take anything for granted and though I can afford new Porsche's , I have no qualms in gently used CPO GT cars , but I was telling this friend that I feel a sense of guilt that I am still a certified car nut . That said, I volunteer every chance I get in our local community , 5 yrs at our Food Bank, Church and I was recently made the President of our local Cemetery if you can believe that ! though to my chagrin, there was no company car or 401K lol .

I know it's self serving if I'm totally honest, but like you, my cars don't count as achievements , more like enjoyable ways to park money. YMMV ; )

If my 991 Speedster and Touring are the last Porsche's I ever buy. I would be perfectly content with that More smiles by the mile.
