Default Upgrades to my 991.1 GT3

Hello All,

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Recently acquired my 991.1 GT3 about a month ago and have been wanting to add some upgrades. Lots more parts coming. Extremely happy and thankful even these parts arrived given what’s happening.

I do all my own work at home as it’s the only way I can save money for more parts haha.

Currently done are:

Swift front and rear springs with upgraded links
Cup headers with SP Motorsports Grand Am exhaust
Recaro RMS 2700g Driver Bucket seat
Recaro Sportster GT Passenger seat
Rennline Race mats and floor plate and phone mount with wireless phone charger attached

I utilized the oem occupancy sensor, seat position sensor and a resistor/fuse to keep the airbag light off. I drove the car as much as I could this week and thankfully the light hasn’t come on. Fingers crossed it stays off haha.

Again waiting on more to ship/arrive, will update when possible.

Had paint correction and ceramic coating done.

New plugs since I’ll be doing an oil change.

Stock 4 ways to be removed for new seats.

Seat connectors needed.

Recaro bucket for driver side, Recaro reclinable for the passenger. Rennline race mats and floor plate.

Taking apart the passenger seat to feed in the harness.

Harness installed

Driver side view.

Passenger side view.

Driver race mat.

Passenger race mat with Rennline phone mount that I attached a wireless phone mount/charger.

Backside view.

Update May-2020:

Some more parts have started to arrive. These are my street build parts showing up. Hoping soon the track parts begin to arrive.

Waiting on a few more pieces then can start test fitting.

Made a mold of the Cup canards to reproduce the canards whenever I needed replacement

Test fit passenger angle

Test fit side

Test fit driver angle

Test fit front view

Update January 2021

Test fitting the kit (still needs adjustment then paint).

Exterior Parts installed are:
Porsche GT3R Hood
Porsche GT-America Front Lip/ Splitter
Porsche Cup Front Flares
DP GT2RS Fenders with Carbon Louvers
Manthey Side Skirts
Manthey Rear Flares
Manthey Rear Decklid
Porsche Cup Upright/Carbon Support
Porsche Cup Wing
BBS E07 custom spec’d 305 tire front, 345 tire rear

I should have got a black GT3...great looking car (and seats). Hope you're planning on running a harness for the driver's seat at least.

Car looks great (black always does when it's clean) and that Drivers seat looks incredible!!!
I've only seen it on line once and didn't know that it was available; is it comfortable?

I also have a black GT3 w/driver/passenger Recaro Profi SPG XL's and I find them quite comfortable.

Some other mods (what I have for the track) I'd recommend:
GMG roll cage, Schroth Harnesses, GMG muffler bypass, Cup toe links & Feredo 2500 pads w/ higher temp brake fluid.

Enjoy!

Thanks Everyone!

The driver seat is comfy to me haha. I’ve always had buckets in all my cars.

I’m still on the hunt for the right cage deal, I have the harness waiting to be installed.

New rotors and pads en route.

Nice. I recently upgraded to aftermarket seats. Can you give details on how you defeated the dreaded airbag light? (where you bought the parts, etc.)

Thanks, Rob

Which Swift springs did you go with? Feedback on ride quality and handling?

Looking sharp. What ohm resistor did you need? Great call on using the OEM parts to not trip the light.

I did the SP Motorsports spring package which consists of Swift Front 10k and rear 14k springs with swift helpers and rear spring adapter. Also did the monoball upper and lower arms as well as the wishbone. I moved the rear sway bar end link to its stiffest position for now until my adjustable end links arrive.

So far, it’s been a night a day difference in handling. All my builds have always been on the stiffer side. I thankfully have the luxury of living up a great mountain road so I do get enjoy the change often, hoping to eventually hit the track when things settle with Covid.

As for the seats, I utilized the factory bladder and same module required off my 4 way seats, used oem seat track position sensors and for the air bag used a 3ohm resistor in-line with a 2amp mini fuse. From installing the seats to now, have added a decent amount of miles. Still no light 🙏 haha
