I have no experience with a 997.2 RS 4.0 , but have many road and track miles with what remains the lightest US spec 997.2 GT3 RS built. A Euro car would have a plastic rear window and could have been ordered with a one piece seat but every bit of DOT legal lightness was added by the factory. Almost every time I parked that car, I'd look back at it and wonder, "how could it be that good." It was in no way a comp to a 997.2 GT3 or a 997.1 GT3 RS which I also owned. But in the end, I sold it. Maybe because I the offered more than 2x market, maybe because it had no A/C which proved difficult on the street even in Colorado. And I must say, it's one of the only cars after 40+ years and 60+ 911's, including a well driven 959 that I miss. But the R will remain. It's that good.

Interesting view my buddy has owned every 911 made, and says the R is the best he’s owned/will not sell for any price. Sounds like a keeper ….

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I have owned about 20 911’s over the past 30 years. For me the 991RS is the perfect car. I just bought my second one and have logged about 30k miles on the 2 cars. I also love the NA motors and I used to be a 911 turbo guy. But I don’t really miss the shifting. Maybe it’s just my linear brain but I love going fast and having both hands on the wheel.

I haven’t been putting many miles on my R lately. Between distracted by new cars, getting new tires for the R and other service work (spark plugs, air filter, oil change, brake fluid), I haven’t had much of a chance.

Took the 911R for a drive this morning. Michelin PS4S works great for the street. I almost forgot how special the car is. With the frantic last few hundred rpm, LWFW, great suspension & steering tuning for the street, it’s one of the most engaging drives!

Can I use all the rpm, shift quickly and smoothly without brushing the rev limiter? Keeping the balance and flow on nice roads, listening to all the great sounds, the experience is fantastic!

Value? It’s one of the best way for me to spend time in life and that’s all the value I need!

I think many of us have a similar story. I knew I wanted one but when they crossed the $300K line I said no way. Bought a touring instead for $175K. Who could have seen this coming?

Great cars will always bring great money...it may take time for more people to notice especially with limited cars making it hard for lots of people to try them...but in time...people find out...prices spike. The way of our world in cars.

And the 911R is a great car...possibly even the best ever pure 911?? Debatable of course...but it's certainly the best modern 911 for those of us who love an "old school" feel and modern comforts.

Only 27 miles in about six years on that example for sale for 599k. A little over 4 miles per year. What a splurge! It is a shame that such a great car has not been driven. Hopefully, the next owner will take it out of the bubble wrap and actually drive the car.

Didn’t think this day will be here so soon. I am selling my 911R. PM me if you are looking for one or know someone who is.

Still deciding which route I will go to sell.

Of course, I’m biased. But I think mine has the perfect options (the lightest possible with the extended fuel tank). Full tank, it weighs 3147 lbs.

~3900 miles.

GLWS. What are you replacing it with? Did you pull the trigger on one of the CGTs on BAT recently. I have enjoyed walking by your R along with the one next to it as I go to mine. Guess we may be down to just two Rs at DC in near future

Our group chat might be too chatty.

Nice pic...what winter/all-weather tires do you run?
