I’d rather be honest with the dealer and hope they would support my request for Porsche to take SOME responsibility for a poor design in this situation.

thanks a bunch for your input here. Much appreciated.

that would be my approach too and I agree Porsche should take responsibility for this type of failure and hopefully your dealer can make the case it failed and should be warrantied.

same problem on my deck lid, i tried to take off the carbon fiber panel to loosen the air intake covers so i could get some stuck rocks out.

a lot of them were very tight but loosened, and one has clearly broken the epoxy inside the deck lid. I think to fix it i would need to drill out the bolt and epoxy a new thread in.

Update- took it to the dealer. The tech fairly quickly referred it to their body shop partner. They fairly quickly recommended sacrificing the end plates by cutting an ‘access window’. The pics below are NOT MINE. They are from a shop I messaged on IG last weekend. This method is 1 of only 2 options available. Either sacrifice the end plate....or try to remove the bolt head without damaging the carbon fiber wing body.
Now I’m just waiting to hear if Porsche will cover at least some of the cost to repair. As far as I’m concerned, their part failed. The nutsert that’s pressed into the body of the end plate bracket has come loose by simply attempting to remove the bolt with a hand-driver and T25 bit. I’m hopeful Porsche will step up here.

Option 3: The new end plates would not only make a nice set of bookends but would also lower your blood pressure.👍
