Agreed! I’m going to see what I can do about making a case that Porsche should cover SOME element of this repair. I know it’s ‘self inflicted’. But...come on!!???!?! Though, I can make an argument for either side of this ‘debate’.

I’m bummed this ‘small and inexpensive’ mod is now out of control. But I have a vision and I’m already invested financially and emotionally! (Yes...i know...it’s rather dramatic....esp in the current state of our world)

Yeah, it’s BS. Seems this happens to everyone who tries to do this. I wanted to do some Carbon end plates, but decided to just leave it alone for this very reason.

Same happened to me...had a body shop specializing in Porsches just break off the end plate and put the new ones on. Was the only solution they could come up with after having tried two different places.

Yep. I had zero issues with removing my .1 end plates on a few occasions.

Yeah, it’s looking like that’s the least costly answer. Ugh.... And here I thought this little mod would be easy......

I got mine off and put on GT2 RS styled endplates on. I agree the screws are on tight, but I was able to get the off although I was worried about having the same issue you mentioned.

I've been tempted to do that, but does that really work?

u ask for quote to install. You have nothing to lose, they give you a quote and you take it in. From there, u play stupid. Trust me they will not fight with you over broken bolt. Now is he say she say... mechanic broke it as far as i am concern.

I found the Best way to break the bolts loose is to give them a quick, hard turn. You can’t put a cautious, slow turn on them.
Sorry for your situation.

Sorry to hear. Responded to your PM. In addition to playing with cold temps, you could also try to superglue a torx bit to the boltface and try loosening and pulling at the same time. Your best hope is in retaining (and increasing) what "gritty resistance" you have left in the nut.

not my style.
plus, they would instantly know someone was working on it as the bolt head clearly shows signs of a bit in/out of it.
