I thought the larger footprint was also for a longer and wider wheel base(plus to accommodate larger wheels) to improve higher speed stability/handling. There is no way they could achieve the performance numbers today on the smaller footprint.

That's a great surface to autocross on. In San Diego, autocross events are at the old Chargers stadium parking lot with huge potholes and chunks of asphalt lying around. I've picked up drill bits, screws, and other sharp metal objects when walking the course.

But does anyone know what a comparable 'Ring time for Singer (say, using a 964 body) would compare with a 991 911? Much less a 991 GT3/RS?
