I bought a 718 Club Sport a few months ago, and I'm loving it. I still have my GT3 RS but not much desire to track it anymore. I have smashed all my personal best laps at every course I went to.
Someone asked about insurance off track, hauling and theft. Hagerty sells a policy for this, around $1100.00.
Everything written about tire wear and brake wear is true. I wore out a set of rotors before the first set of pads. I've been using the Pirelli DHB, and getting the same results as most have mentioned.
If anybody is interested in buying the track version, send a email Grahm Rahal at GRP. He has three available right now. The track model does come with air jacks now.

Were you at Laguna a few weeks go with us? I think we chatted at the corkscrew.
Jesus, a 157mph on the back straight at the Glen. and a 1:51 time is DAMN impressive...... What motor work is done to this?? i just cant get over how this car rotates, looks surreal.!
For all with the 718 Clubsport - wrt track support, for DE and private track days, do you hire track support?
I'm attending a PCA DE this coming w/end for the first time and only drivers can attend owing to social distancing.
This will be first time out on slicks (have driven on Hoho's on various Porsche GT cars) and never been in a race car either.
For background I've gotten a 3hr download on how to work the car from the technicians.
Plan is to drive conservatively to get acclimated to 718 Clubsport and slicks.
Thank you for any input.
Get real support, it will make a huge difference and speed up your learning curve.
That of course assumes the support guys know what they are doing.
Remember what the old Porsche mechanic said to the young ,new owner of Porsche race car... " what part of Porsche racing did you think was cheap , the Porsche part or the racing part... "
Thanks everyone for the feedback. It helps solidify a decision I was already pretty close to making. The safety combined with access to a trackside garage and a good local pro coach helps.
I have decided to get the Clubsport and sell my Gt3 in the spring once the cayman has arrived and is dialed in.
Now my next decision will be which tires to run. I though the Pirelli DH were a good option but it sounds like there have been some tire failures on the 718’s. The Hancock’s sounds like an interesting option and are appealing from a price and longevity aspect.
Great thread btw (there should be a dedicated CS forum). Wanted to see how the transition has been? Looking at doing the same GT3 to CS then a 4RScs in about 1-2 years. But like a lot of people on this thread still kinda of debating as I have a currently well track sorted GT3.
