I was initially a bit worried about less torque and LWFW on the R. However, it turns out to not be an issue for me at all. A habit of mine (maybe good, maybe bad) is pretty much above 3000 rpm at all times. I also prefer to downshift to closer to 5000 rpm before hard acceleration (also a habit). Of course, you don’t get the turbo torque curve (my most recent reference point was a 991.2 C2 GTS manual, kinda miss that car too!)
I got used to the R cabin noise level quickly. But driving them back to back, the GT3T is quieter and more peaceful. Of course, it’s all relative though (991.2 GTS is even more peaceful).
Well, Porsche knows how to perfectly target suckers like me and I’m a total sucker for everything they have done on the R. It doesn’t seem like it’d be that special but it is. At least I know I’m a sucker for these kinds of things.
Front end look, I prefer the 991.1 less angular design. But it’s definitely picking apart 99.9% perfect or 99.99% perfect between these 2.
Thanks! I can’t take credit for the spec. I was lucky to have found the right car at the right time (wish I’m VIP). Story has it that Andreas Preuninger helped guide the spec on this car.

Yes, stellar spec indeed. Love the 911R and your spec so much that I was willing to have two! Made them a reasonable offer but they wouldn’t budge. Must admit, I have ‘no-wart no sat/nav’ envy. Sick how more 911Rs weren’t spec’d without these silly options back when it was possible to delete. Want to rip off my unsightly wart.
Fast forward about a year. I get my 2019 Touring and I find it to be exactly the same as my winged GT3 when it comes to noise level in the cockpit. I can easily carry on conversations with either passengers or on the phone at just about any reasonable speed. And zero drone. After these experiences and talking to other owners who feel like you about Touring noise levels, it's my conclusion that Porsche hasn't been consistent applying insulation.
I wonder this too. My late-Jan 2019 Touring is the only one I've driven. After having read so much about how loud Tourings are, I find myself disappointed that mine isn't really that loud at all - at least to my ears...
